I take about 1/2 a teaspoon stirred into an ounce or so of fruit juice on an empty stomach. There are capsules available and many people do take them. The powder in bulk, by the 4 oz. package, amounts to twice as much actual Noni for your money. So far I have resisted all of the additional packaging issues.

How do you use the powder? Could it perhaps be put into a capsule and swallowed like any other pill form supplement?

I take Noni powder although I make and sell it so I am a bit biased. It still has a flavor and smell that puts some people off but you can get used to it. The powder has the added benefit of fiber which most people can use more of. I had developed constant elbow pain after a few months of pulling ferns, Uluhi I think, from our lot. After a couple of weeks of taking the Noni the pain went away.
Now I take it daily because I think that it boosts my immune system. There are lots of historical uses for various parts of Morinda Citrifolia but as they say, it 'has not been tested or approved by the FDA'

We also tried noni mixed with grape juice which took the edge off, but still tough to swallow. We got some at the Makuu farmers' market.
We also tried chewing kava, which was, ummm... "interesting".

Hawaii life's gonna take some getting used to!

I guess I'm resigned to "it wouldn't be home sweet home if there weren't a gallon jar of fermenting noni on top of the fridge." I can only handle drinking a few sips of the juice from day one or two. After that, fuhgeddaboudit. So the suggestion of masking the beneficial noni in lemonade is so welcome - thanks for the idea.

I was thinking more of uses as a topical skin treatment actually. I prefer tequila shots :-)

Blake... you might just have to drive to Hana to try the Noni shots... just a thought :-)

This is my first encounter with the pinecone potato LOL. The Wiki entry posted has some great information as well as this discussion. I am very interested in learning about such thing and the medicinal benefits in particularly. Mahalo for the post and the contributions.

When we were on Maui they were selling shots of fermented (as in turning to alcohol fermented) noni at the hippie farm at the end of the road in Hana. Everyone there was drinking them. We passed as we couldn't get past the heavy aged stinky cheese smell. Some of the folks there were saying that they drink it as a healthy natural preventative type measure - daily. (maybe not the fermented stuff, don't know)

Many years ago when I lived on Maui, Maui Juice Co. bottled a juice called "Noni Lemonaide". Basically lemonaide with about 10 % noni juice. I've made this over the years myself, and really like it. Lemonaide is a good foil for Noni. Angela

hm. while watching a good morning america segment some time ago on this very subject, robin roberts was told that the bottled tonic she was purchasing from a health food store contained mostly sugar. maybe that would help?

at abundant life last week, they were offering noni shots. it didn't look appealing. needless to say, we didn't try it.

I remember the first time I tried it. I really was hoping I'd like it. Maybe I could mix it with something......

No cheesecloth just a screw cap, you want the contents to stay dry out of the elements. You're essentially making "sun tea". Make sure it stays out of the rain though, a sunny place that's protected like under an eave or deck. I used to make this for years on Maui with no problems, but here maybe because of the rain/higher humidity I had problems with mold after about a month or so. After I made sure the jar stayed dry, it was fine. It's a great health tonic. It detoxifies, so in the first week of taking you may feel detox symptoms, headaches etc.. then you feel great after.
