Warning Messages - HiloJulie - 12-14-2024

"The Punaweb platform has been displaying warning messages since early this AM."
"The webmaster was contacted at that time and is working on resolving the situation."

Any status update on this issue?

RE: Warning Messages - Punatang - 12-14-2024

As I have (cleverly) proven in another thread - this is all M2's fault. Note that all of the warnings are directed squarely to they/them. Yes ALL of them.

RE: Warning Messages - Olohana 1790 - 12-14-2024

duh..... M2?

the Miami nightclub, BMW, Antenna, or the Machine Gun?

oh
"ALL of them."

ok. so it is
the Miami nightclub, the BMW, the Antenna, and the Machine Gun too

M2 sounds so cool

aroha

Any status update on this issue?

Maj. Eaton : We have top men working on it right now.
Indiana Jones: Who?
Maj. Eaton : Top... men.

We do have the webmaster looking into the issue, but sorry, no other update or news beyond that.

RE: Warning Messages - Wao nahele kane - 12-14-2024

It appears that myBB version (1.8.21) isn't compatible with the PHP version (8.2.20), so many of the plug-in are failing.
I'd imagine admin has lost a boat load of plug-in features. For users, the reply and New reply plug-ins don't work. Switch on quick reply and it works, for now.

Maybe need to roll back the PHP version.

RE: Warning Messages - MyManao - 12-14-2024

I'll add..

Seems that more is broken than just having the warnings splashed all over the place. I can't reply to other posts and it seems, maybe, the private messaging system isn't all that happy either. As such here's a link I tried PMing earlier that may help understand the situation..

From: https://community.mybb.com/post-1391544.html

Which in response to a post describing a similar situation in part says..

your hoster has changed your Webspace to PHP8

You can deactivate the display of warnings in the acp

acp --> configuration --> Server & Optimization

RE: Warning Messages - Wao nahele kane - 12-14-2024

MyManao,
Yes, the conflict is in the script language version (PHP) and myBB version.
It isn't compatible with script language version (PHP) that the myBB version script was written in.
Some of the newer versions of myBB would be compatible with PHP version 8.2.20. That said, 8.2.20 should be updated with 8.2.26 due to bug issues. That doesn't means 8.2.26 is compatible with myBB version 1.8.21 only that PHP 8.2.20 has some bugs that needed fixing and are fixed in .PHP 8.2.26.

So there are scads of plug-ins that are now incompatible with the current PHP version. Don't know the whole list of incompatible plug-ins but there's clearly many.

It would appear someone is also trying to do something in the code itself because the New Reply plug-in was working fine yesterday and earlier today but has since gone bad. So, someone's tinkering with the code behind the scenes.

I used to run a myBB forum and worked with with the PHP script on occasion.

Iʻm impressed with the knowledge you have. Cute doesnʻt help. Mahalo to both of you for trying to help fix this.

ETA: reply seems to still be working for me.

RE: Warning Messages - Punatang - 12-15-2024

M2 may very well be ransoming Rob for some extra holiday alohas.  Code schmode.

RE: Warning Messages - HiloJulie - 12-15-2024

When do the "lock M2 up" chants begin?
