Local made baby and kids clothes - Rob Tucker - 05-25-2025 I am wondering if anyone knows a local Hawaiian who makes baby clothes. I'm thinking of some Hawaiian style presents for friends overseas. Mahalo in advance.. RE: Local made baby and kids clothes - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 05-25-2025 Not sure if this is what you had in mind, but Hilo Hattie still makes clothes locally on Oahu. https://www.sfgate.com/hawaii/article/hilo-hattie-hawaii-store-20338671.php RE: Local made baby and kids clothes - Durian Fiend - 05-25-2025 You might be able to commission HPP's own Iris Viacrusis to make some for you. They'd really be something special. Or possibly he could give you a reference. https://keolamagazine.com/culture/iris-viacrusis/ RE: Local made baby and kids clothes - Punatang - 05-25-2025 I was in the same boat recently. The Maku'u Farmers Market (happening again today until 2PM) has a couple of vendors who usually have some cute things, for tiny keiki, that should do the trick. RE: Local made baby and kids clothes - punikahakaiferret - 05-25-2025 I *think* the Aloha Grown store on the Hilo bayfront makes keiki clothing. I say *think* because I found a keiki item from there in a free clothing bin (I'm always looking for fabric or garments to rework). So whether they still make them or not...? RE: Local made baby and kids clothes - RoGo - 05-25-2025 Aloha Rob! I usually do my newborn gift shopping at KD Gifts in downtown Hilo (244 Kam Ave). The front of the store has vintage housewares. Newborn items can be found on the right side of the shop, right past the cashier. The items are new, not vintage, and made in Hilo and you can normally find baby blankets, bibs and cotton vests. There's usually a mix of Hawaiian and Asian prints. For my older grandsons, I normally go to Walmart and get them matching Hawaiian shirts/shorts set. They are made in Honolulu (supposedly) and the boys love them. There are also sundress styles for young girls as well. Aloha Grown (downtown) carries newborn (onesies) and youth t-shirts. You can also check out Crib. in the Manao Marketplace. cribhawaii.com They carry clothing, books, papales. Cute stuff... a little more trendy and pricey. Good luck |
