Largest Price increase you have seen ?
You're right, Durian Fiend. An even BETTER idea would be to have a Spam orchard on the Mauna. This could unite all of us on the island and pave the way for the TMT to move forward, with the possible exception of the vegans, who could take over the already existing protest camps by the access road for their protests.
Certainty will be the death of us.

Spam orchard on the Mauna.

If you piled up all the cans of Spam and other canned foods consumed by residents of Big Island over a five or ten year period at the Puuanahulu landfill site on sacred Mauna Kea, it would no doubt dwarf the TMT, and most likely pollutes the water table more in 15 minutes with bacteria from the rotting meat particles stuck to the inside of the cans than the zero waste observatory would in 100 years.

But ummmm, fried Spam, Spam musubi. Pork byproducts grown on mainland, then flown or shipped in to the islands, yet somehow is considered local food when served up by OHA at telescope protests. (If the protestors aren’t vegans.)

Most of the livestock feeds have gone up about 50% in the last year.

Tractor Supply warned last week of big price increases on the horizon due to "worldwide grain shortages".

Goat feed just went up 17% in ONE WEEK.

I know most of you are thinking, "I don't eat goat" or "I'm a vegan". But goat feed has the same ingredients as other livestock feed. I'm not suggesting that vegans are livestock, but the theme here is that some farmed goods are getting scarce and more expensive.

So while you may barely notice increases in food prices now, the food producers are getting hit with them hard, and those costs will be passed onto consumers later this year or in 2023.

In the short term, good for the consumer because farmers are liquidating animals because they can't afford to feed them.

In the longer term, bad for the consumer. Some of the ranchers in Texas are liquidating their breeding stock.

HOTPE ... get real bra ... are you trying to be funny or just ignorant ? Can't tell the difference.

USPS may also be the most brutal to some.

I hear ya TC ... We are not in livestock genre but FWIW, friends going with goats now vs. pigs and fowl.

Is Spam grown in a Spam orchard on the upper slopes of Mauna Kea, or flown?
Do people who eat Spam carefully wash and remove debris from the inside of the can before they discard?
Do the cans then end up as a giant pile of garbage on Mauna Kea?

Is it a local product?

2022 is an election year.

They have to pander to voters and kiss ass.

When elections are over, I would expect things to change for the worse.

Here’s a photo of a Big Island junkyard.  Count the EV cars:

Are you suggesting politicians control the price of food and other commodities?  Do you know which ones? So I can put in an order at the CME?
