Think before you post - Lee M-S - 01-25-2014 I recently posted my truck for sale in the non-classified section, and someone from the mainland replied IN THE AD THREAD that he thought I was asking too much. That kind of comment can make people question the value and reduce response, even though I was asking slightly below blue book. I think his comment destroyed the usefulness of the ad. Maybe he thought I posted the ad for my amusement or his education, but in fact I actually needed to sell the truck. Fortunately, I did sell the truck for my asking price, to someone from Craigslist, not here. ><(((*> ~~~~ ><(("> ~~~~ ><'> ~~~~ >(> RE: Think before you post - Forester - 01-25-2014 I remember seeing the reply you're talking about and doing a face-palm -- and I'm a mainlander. Glad you sold it. RE: Think before you post - Bullwinkle - 01-25-2014 many opinions about what its like in the trenches offered by folks who "someday plan to move......" as well I take it with "a mile in my shoes" grain of salt. On the pain of sounding snarky ...same goes for folks who have been here six months "and figured out" the social structure.....the racism rants a good example imho Reinforced that at 5 years and maybe being in touch with more than one 'hood on one island beyond ones immediate circle of trustafarians (love that word - we always "trust fund babies".... thx) ... starts to get some street cred, imho RE: Think before you post - Lee M-S - 01-25-2014 just to be clear; I mentioned he was from the mainland only to highlight the fact that he doesn't know how much trucks are worth here. (Some of my best friends live on the mainland...) And it was more polite than some of the words I was considering. But that sort of post would be rude and inappropriate anywhere, not just here. ><(((*> ~~~~ ><(("> ~~~~ ><'> ~~~~ >(> RE: Think before you post - Rob Tucker - 01-25-2014 Hmmm. You should have brought that to my attention. I didn't see the posts. Trolling a classified is not good. You have a right to offer goods for sale without being criticized. We had someone doing that a lot some time back. He got banned. RE: Think before you post - csgray - 01-25-2014 Maybe I am hanging out in the wrong places, but I do not know a single "trustafarian" here on the Big Island. Everyone I know personally either works one or more jobs, or is retired after working for many many years. Do all of you really know these "trustafarians" or are you just making assumptions about people from seeing them doing yoga postures in the body products aisle in the natural food store? Carol RE: Think before you post - Lupie - 01-25-2014 quote: This reminds me of the South Park "Going Native" episode. Funny as all hell if you can find it. It makes fun of the fact that people move to Hawaii, and then a short time afterward consider themselves to be "locals". They have something called a "Mahalo rewards card". I about peed my pants the first time I saw it. [] RE: Think before you post - Bullwinkle - 01-25-2014 speaking of assumptions - I dont mean to imply that my having fun with a word means anything about the folks in front of any store dont think by definition one needs to be rasta to be a trustafarian - Some of the best wood joinery I've ever seen was done by a rasta wood wright..... although I would add that using my interpretation "clueless" and some sort of stipend a must. edit - new key board on order RE: Think before you post - rocketman - 01-25-2014 Going Native was great, here's the link http://www.southparkstudios.com/full-episodes/s16e11-going-native Ed RE: Think before you post - Lupie - 01-25-2014 Oh awesome! I'll have to watch it again on the PC. I can't watch on my iPad. Thanks rocket man! |
