Where did the sun go? - Guest - 07-16-2014 This is the fifth strait day we are waking up to the sound of rain. I did hear about remnants from a tropical storm, has that passed?. We had just planted a large area of poha berries a few days ago. They are swimming for their lives and have yet to see the sun. We just got another 4 inches of rain since midnight and its starting to look like the surf might be up in the acres soon. Might have to get the body boards out and let the boys ride the new rivers. Lol, be safe everyone. RE: Where did the sun go? - birchl - 07-16-2014 the sun? oh that bright yellow orb in the sky? yeah, soggy soggy soggy. my little bit's not too bad. my land kinda sorts itself out. Raise the flower beds up so they can drain. don't flatten anything. plant on a slant. ( i could start a catch phrase ) snuggle up with a book and a lover. wait till its REALLY raining hard and then actually have a shower. Its more fun than you think. When we first moved to the acres, the phrase 'rain forset' kinda went over my head. we moved into a tent until we could complete our house and it then rained more than it has ever rained in recorded or living history. sooo much fun #10048; RE: Where did the sun go? - mac nut - 07-16-2014 Another bout of heavy rain headed our way for the coming weekend. A tropical depression. can we sell some rain to california? RE: Where did the sun go? - dayna - 07-16-2014 I love the rain! Puna = Rain! Glorious. Dayna http://www.FarmingAloha.com www.E-Z-Caps.com RE: Where did the sun go? - Guest - 07-16-2014 Really great advice on how to deal with the rain in the rain forest birchl. Well when you have a large family with young kids the rain and indoors gets old quickly. We tend to get into card games, monopoly, chess, and movies like the wizard of oz during extended rainy days. Also don't like getting several days of rain in a row for the molds and colds seem to follow shortly after. Well maybe tomorrow we will see the sun and things can start drying out?. P.S. Anyone know any good songs about the rain? We might want to make a CD with nothing but songs about rain. RE: Where did the sun go? - Kelena - 07-16-2014 Oh, sorry about that ---- I have mainland visitors coming and this ALWAYS happens when that happens, so you can blame me for inviting them. Also, I get tired of typing sometimes and I just let the sky do the talking. This is going to go on for a little while. Again, sorry. RE: Where did the sun go? - SandyS - 07-16-2014 Our grid tied solar was installed just over a week ago. We have not had a day without rain since. A coincidence? I think not! RE: Where did the sun go? - Carey - 07-16-2014 And I am planning to use the chop saw outside on a piece of metal too big to do under our cover... OK Punawebbers, we all just gotta plan on some inside things with soup on...that'll chase away our "tropical Depressions'! The rain as a whole has not been that much in Puna terms at our house Sun. 0.75" Mon. 1.75" Tues. 2.0" last night 3" the total so far is only 6.5".... have yet to have a day that would top "normal" rain gauges of 3-5"...haven't even needed my 'Puna special" that can measure a rainfall of more than these barely puddle producing rains! (this is an aside was for those that are not used to the storms here....still boogles the mind that a 3" rainfall does not come with massive flooding ... or even major car swallowing puddles! RE: Where did the sun go? - Anxious Messiah - 07-16-2014 In house project time! _________________________________________ Don't speak unless you can improve on the silence. RE: Where did the sun go? - csgray - 07-16-2014 As part of my recovery from breaking my tibial plateau in March I have been swimming every day at the Pahoa pool, yesterday the water was COLD for the first time. I am having a hard time getting motivated today, even though getting rained on when swimming really isn't a big deal, and my dogs are getting truly depressed with no sun to soak up. Carol |
