Invasive Vine Help - microage97 - 04-02-2015 Hey - what is that Bright Yellowed flower vinish plant you see all over Leilani? It has long woody shots that will lay over everything. I fond some growing back in a wild section of my lot and it looks to be spreading so I guess I need to get back there and try and kill it before it takes over. RE: Invasive Vine Help - leilaniguy - 04-02-2015 Are the flowers shaped something like daisies about an inch across, with shiny jagged leaves? My guess would be Wedelia. The seeds stick to shoes, spread easily. RE: Invasive Vine Help - microage97 - 04-02-2015 I would say they are smooth oblong leaves paired but one on each side of the woody stick/vine. It doesn't have the clingly tendrils like a vine but grows in a long stick. RE: Invasive Vine Help - lquade - 04-02-2015 second the wedelia. the woody stems is exactly right... and my goats wont even eat it.. and it invades everywhere... RE: Invasive Vine Help - bananahead - 04-02-2015 the description describes this nasty sucker... http://wildlifeofhawaii.com/flowers/1487/allamanda-cathartica-allamanda/ the pretty flower every malahini plants in their new yard....ugh! white sap usually means poisonous, and this one is poisonous ps wedelia is a sunflower family plant w/o any wood... no where near as bad as allamanda, which in extreme cases can ruin your property value almost as much as albizia ****************************************************************** save our indigenous and endemic Hawaiian Plants... learn about them, grow them, and plant them on your property, ....instead of all that invasive non-native garbage I see in most yards... aloha RE: Invasive Vine Help - microage97 - 04-03-2015 Thanks everyone. That is the buggah. I prolly should clear a path back and try to kill it before it really gets out of control. RE: Invasive Vine Help - eigoya - 04-03-2015 We have been clearing a wall of it growing between trees. Finally had to cut down the tall tree with red flowers on Sunday. Between tree, vine, anything which made its home in them and God-knows what else we got rashes on arms and face. It's a jungle out there...... RE: Invasive Vine Help - microage97 - 04-03-2015 what did you use to kill it? Did you just chop it back? It sounds like it will sprout from cuttings as well.... RE: Invasive Vine Help - eigoya - 04-03-2015 Me? I chopped it back, but due to this rash I'm nervous to go out there again without a hazmat suit RE: Invasive Vine Help - microage97 - 04-03-2015 ya I would recommend caution with the sap, but I would imagine you need put some poison on this buggah to kill it. |
