Feds may investigate Honolulu rail - Chunkster - 12-02-2018 According to the Star-Advertiser, there are rumblings that the U.S Attorney's Office in Honolulu is launching an inquiry into the Honolulu rail fiasco. Here is a link, but the pay wall could go up at any time: http://www.staradvertiser.com/2018/12/02/hawaii-news/federal-inquiry-linked-to-rail/?HSA=1c69aa50f9958c5821843091e1dfd9d2ab807a12 The mess is already undergoing an audit, and according to the article, the auditors have complained of less than forthright cooperation from HART. This could get interesting without Dan Inouye to run interference for the "home team." At what point does chronic incompetence become corruption? RE: Feds may investigate Honolulu rail - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 12-02-2018 chronic incompetence... corruption? Hey! I voted for Chronic Incompetence! Now you’re telling me we got Corruption for my hard earned tax dollars instead? What gives? "I want great climate, we’re going to have that.” President Donald J. Trump, while viewing the massive wildfire devastation 11/17/18. (The J stands for Jenius) RE: Feds may investigate Honolulu rail - kalakoa - 12-02-2018 Might have something to do with how the project has doubled in cost. It's now $9.1B. State "found" the extra $31M financing costs by "recalculating" the "projected tax revenue" over their 2017 "estimates". They've also set a "more realistic" completion date: September 2026. Uh huh. RE: Feds may investigate Honolulu rail - jahson777 - 12-02-2018 They are out of touch with the reality of the things we need in hawaii. We have a crime and meth epidemic. Wouldnt more police and rehab programs be more of a priority than getting their rail friends rich? How many homeless people are out there now? $9.1 billion dollars!?!? WTF? I hope someone gets busted and Hawaii can become a by the people for the people state. It seems like an issue of incompetence and corruption. RE: Feds may investigate Honolulu rail - Seeb - 12-02-2018 It has obviouse the thing was nothing but a boondoggle since they decided it wasn’t going to the airport or UH Manoa RE: Feds may investigate Honolulu rail - glinda - 12-02-2018 I agree the project needs some oversight.. but the funniest thing about that article is "The U.S Attorney's Office" Give me a break.. we don't have a U.S Attorney. The entire office is a political sham.. laws? Yeah right! As long as DJT is running the show I see no reason for anyone to follow "the law" RE: Feds may investigate Honolulu rail - Chunkster - 12-02-2018 I see no reason for anyone to follow "the law" Well, there's some hope. The Trump Justice Department is indeed a political train wreck, but since the Hawaii establishment is on the opposite side of the divide, it just might get thoroughly investigated and prosecuted. The irony of such a course would delight many of us. RE: Feds may investigate Honolulu rail - ckg - 12-02-2018 This is great news. Finally some federal oversight hopefully for these fools. Here is hoping some of what really goes on can be uncovered. So much for the federal dollar "local" cash grab. RE: Feds may investigate Honolulu rail - leilanidude - 12-02-2018 Chronic Incompetence ---- great name for a band RE: Feds may investigate Honolulu rail - Frank - 12-02-2018 quote: another choice for investigator would be to appoint some folks from the party which has held POWER for the last 49 years, at Every level of gov. I might add here in Hawaii, to investigate on behalf of the people. How do you think that would pan out gl? |
