Thai Project II - pslamont - 04-21-2008

Have been quiet about the Thai project trying to be patient. Finally, the first of the lumber has arrived and the floor is going in. I have posted a few new photos on the Puna Chat web page in the photo section. Just go to http://www.freewebs.com/punachat/ and click on Photo Gallery.

Of course yu can enjoy live chat here too... check often to see if anyone is around. It is slow getting started but we have some lively talks there already!

Aloha, Pam

Like Rabi said in your Thai Project 1 thread...

I'm glad I don't live there.

Looks like you hooked em up with a stylish little shindig for what it's worth.

ah, don't be fooled by what you see in the pictures of Thailand. Sure their living standards are below how we live in America. But the Thais are very proud people. These people are some of the most generous people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting too. They may live in what you think is sub-standard conditions, but they will give you the shirt off their back!

Hell Damon, there was a time in my life when I considered Thailand as my last resting place! That's how much I loved that place & it's people!

I think we all thought that Thailand was going to be your last resting place.[Big Grin]

IF you are doing the math, and you think something is off? Well, I was pardoned by the King of THailand, King Bhumipol just under four years and three months.......

Glad the King let you go![:p]

Bullwinkle:

You already ARE doing so much. You are helping me keep Theo's place in order so that HE can stay there and work on the house and teaching and such. Of course, if you have like a million laying around I would be happy to help you spend it but in all seriousness, you have been most generous. Thank you. Just keep encouraging me!

Wow! We are making great progress on the house. Theo has sent photos of the recent project and I have them up on the chat page photos. Even if you don't want to chat, go take a look.

http://www.freewebs.com/punachat/

Notice that there is no kitchen section to the hose at this time. I put my foot down and said "no birth control, no kitchen". They are resisting this, even though they say "if I get pregnant again, I will kill myself". So much for dealing with the uneducated. It is fear that drives this issue. This family is a little slow on the uptake but we are working on it. One neighbor woman jokigly told Theo "If you will build ME a kitchen, I will go get my tubes tied." Most of the village people don't understand why this couple has this issue as there are so many choices r/t birth control. Most families in this village have two children and stop. This couple doesn't want more kids. (scratch head here and wonder) Ah, well..

Anyway, take a look at the pics. http://www.freewebs.com/punachat/

Theo is escorting our project family to a demonstration agricultural project for the raising of pigs. There is a new method of housing tem developed by Ang (Theo's new thai wife)'s cousin with the Ag department. It combines a different pen style, rice husks, chickens and a bacterial enzyme. You get perfect fertilizer, no smell of any kind (so animals near the house in these small lots is healthy and pelasant).

Wooo hooo..l will get photos of that up soon.
