Big Boom?? - Royall - 08-05-2020 4:42, just heard a big boom that I don't think is firework related... between Maku'u and paradise maybe about 14th to 16th? Anyone else hear it or pin point it better? RE: Big Boom?? - macuu222 - 08-05-2020 Helicopter circling down by the ocean. RE: Big Boom?? - Royall - 08-05-2020 222, sounded kinda like a very large tire blowing up after over inflating... not a sharp sound of fireworks... Anyway, was just curious RE: Big Boom?? - macuu222 - 08-05-2020 Looks like a coast guard helicopter just huvering off shore between Paradise and kaloli RE: Big Boom?? - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 08-05-2020 The Coast Guard Helicopter is looking for someone who fell in the ocean. Boat arrived about 15 minutes ago. Fire Department searchers on the scene, police & ambulance. Diver went in the water twice but didn’t locate anyone. Rescue worker told me it’s probably a recovery mission at this point. RE: Big Boom?? - eightfingers2.0 - 08-05-2020 We’re seeing a lot of aircraft even now. RE: Big Boom?? - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 08-05-2020 Update 7:30 PM After the helicopter and boat left, a body was spotted at the base of the cliffs. Fire crews couldn’t lift him out from the cliffs, so the boat returned. The waves are fairly rough for summer, so the boat can only get so close. It’s dark now, but they’re still trying. It was an opihi picker, according to a relative. RE: Big Boom?? - alaskyn66 - 08-05-2020 7:35 Body recovered. Headed back to port. RE: Big Boom?? - TomK - 08-05-2020 So what caused the big boom? RE: Big Boom?? - Kiana - 08-05-2020 We heard it at that time in that area. Sounded like a bomb, or, maybe dynamite. Huge explosion of some sort. But, we never heard any sirens after that, so ..... no idea. |
