And no early fireworks were stirring . . . - Kiana - 07-01-2024 Is it just our area of mid-HPP that hasn't heard one peep of early fireworks yet? Usually, they start a week out or more, certainly as soon as the fireworks stands open. (Haven't seen any of those either.) Usually, our neighborhood is loud and celebratory all around us starting early, and then the BIG show by holiday time. Seems so odd! RE: And no early fireworks were stirring . . . - randomq - 07-01-2024 Heard a few last night in Hawaiian Acres, coming from the Orchidland/Ainaloa direction. RE: And no early fireworks were stirring . . . - punikahakaiferret - 07-01-2024 Sssssshhhhh...enjoy the silence. ;-) RE: And no early fireworks were stirring . . . - terracore - 07-01-2024 There's a connection between the illegal fireworks and cockfighting. Maybe the medium-profile arrests a bit back have something to do with it? Also one of the local producers accidentally blew himself up a few years ago. There was also a ton, actually 17 tons, of illegal fireworks seized about 7 months ago (https://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/2023/12/27/hawaii-news/state-17-more-tons-of-illegal-fireworks-seized-today/) And then there is inflation... $5k for illegal fireworks doesn't go nearly as far as it did a few years ago. People are probably saving up for the big event. RE: And no early fireworks were stirring . . . - kalianna - 07-01-2024 We had a few pops last night, also mid HPP, but Iʻve also noticed the noticeable decrease in fireworks so far this year. RE: And no early fireworks were stirring . . . - Punatang - 07-01-2024 HPP you say? Maybe after all of the recent murders, attempted murders, and gun arsenal discoveries lately in HPP, folks who normally "pop off" are rightfully scared that someone might just shoot back. RE: And no early fireworks were stirring . . . - Kiana - 07-01-2024 "There's a connection between the illegal fireworks and cockfighting. " Verrrrry interesting. Perhaps the same bruddahs taking the money and looking the other way.... RE: And no early fireworks were stirring . . . - kalianna - 07-04-2024 Twas the night before 7/4 and nary a peep! I think I got way too many boom treats for the dog. RE: And no early fireworks were stirring . . . - Kiana - 07-04-2024 I know what you mean, so strange. Husband says it feels like a Twilight Zone episode. :-) RE: And no early fireworks were stirring . . . - keaau mary - 07-04-2024 (07-01-2024, 12:32 AM)Kiana Wrote: Is it just our area of mid-HPP that hasn't heard one peep of early fireworks yet? I was wondering if the lack of illegals is connected to the guy who got burned last year making them in his kitchen. I can't remember all the details but it has been noticeably quiet since then. |
