Crash tomorrow? - JWFITZ - 07-13-2008

Just wondering what the 5 billion bucks Freddie Mac has due tomorrow, and their ability to raise it, is going to have on the markets. Any guesses before the bell rings?

RE: Crash tomorrow? - JerryCarr - 07-13-2008

I think the Federal Reserve and the Treasury have set up some sort of guaranteed purchase of the paper coming up tomorrow. Or so sayeth the ABC news. Still, it probably won't be a pretty day on Wall Street, given all the other stress on the markets.

Cheers,
Jerry

I heard the fed was going to bail em out, which won't be good but not a crash!

RE: Crash tomorrow? - Guest - 07-13-2008

gtill -

According to this article, the Feds aren't going to be helping em out.

What this means to Hawaii, is less retirees that live off their stocks will be able to move here during this volatile time.

As I read it, it doesn't look to me that the Fed can actually afford to bail anybody out at this moment. I fear that may well be consensus. We're going to learn a lot here in a few hours.

RE: Crash tomorrow? - Greg - 07-13-2008

I predict the price of Pakalolo will hold steady at $300/oz.

RE: Crash tomorrow? - gtill - 07-13-2008

Damon, the sink or swim notice is for all but Freddie & Fanny, they're covered.

It's going to be the earnings reports for the rest (basket cases, some down over 50%).

The question is will the dow bottom at 10K.

It was a situation like this, going broke, need revenue that ended prohibition. Billions saved and a new revenue resourse. Make the pakalolo estimate 300$ + tax!

RE: Crash tomorrow? - Greg - 07-13-2008

If they make the Pakalolo tax retroactive......I'm screwed!

RE: Crash tomorrow? - gtill - 07-13-2008

Good point, 1 year retroactive on the whole island might pay the national debt!

RE: Crash tomorrow? - Guest - 07-13-2008

If/When they legalize and tax Pakalolo... At $300 an oz, I'm "quitting my day job" and growing weed![:o)]

I'd be happy to pay taxes on a commodity that goes for that price and the demand is that HIGH. [^]
