Electricians - kwalters145 - 06-24-2007 Can anyone reccomend a electrician to upgrade our service to 200 amps? We are in Mountain View RE: Electricians - Kapohocat - 06-25-2007 I can tell you that that is a good idea! I suggest to most of my clients that they put in 200 amp service, especially if the run is going to be long or they anticipate putting in a jacuzzi, using a welder, etc (any high drain items) in the future. Also a suggestion is to have your electrician go with the bigger wire - not just what will pass code. It is easier on both your appliances, and elec bill.... -- maybe an electrician on here can explain this better but here is my simple view --- more resistance, less actual power. RE: Electricians - pslamont - 06-25-2007 Call Jerry 808-982-8197 He and wife Markie own Art & Orchids, and this may be thge number to the bed and breakfast, but just ask for Jerry for electrical work. He is licensed and does well at fair prices. Aloha. Just another day in P A R A D I S E !! RE: Electricians - emorata - 06-25-2007 jerry has done some work for me also....very dependable, do call him, although i'm not sure if he is doing electric work as of recent. noel RE: Electricians - hpp4me - 06-25-2007 We stayed at Markie and Jerry's B&B. He's a great guy (and she, a great gal!). I have not used him since we won't be closing escrow for a few more weeks, but I know he was the electrician on some huge commercial projects in SF Bay area before moving to Puna so he should be able to handle most anything that comes up. Emorata, Jerry also mentioned some classes he was taking on the latest solar enery technologies, so I know he's still practicing his trade. RE: Electricians - ef9 - 06-26-2007 I agree with Kapohocat about using larger wire than what will pass NEC (National Electric Code). The reason being is, the smaller the wire, the more resistance, the higher the voltage drop, the more current the appliances will consume (higher electric bill).
