hi Marty. I would check with a local plumber and they can reccommend someone if they can't do it. I may have to have mine inspected as it seems the original inspection card was never turned in to the health dept. Let me know if you find someone

Ronald Nickel, P.E., is the inspector for new construction of cesspools/septic at least up here in Mountain View....his phone number is 965-9911 and if he can't help you, he oughta know who can. Good luck!

thanks kathie:
i tried the number...it said, "verizon could not complete the call." could you check for an update? if not, i'll keep looking. seems like i have to have a problem manifest before attention is given.

Inspection of a new system during construction isn’t a problem, I’ve worked with Ron on numerous projects. But once built I’m not sure how you inspect it? Ron requires pictures during construction and the truck tickets for the cinder used in the leach field. This way the Health Department can tell the size of the field by the volume of the replacement stone. But how can you tell how many pipes are in the leach field, their spacing, grade and dimensions? I’m on a project right now and we can’t even tell the size of the septic tanks? We need to know if they are 1000 or 1250 gallon and there’s no way to tell. I think if the system has been working since 2005 your ok.

thanks for your interest scott. the owner discloses that he's never seen the house so i'm just doing extra diligence in case of the unknown. i checked rico and something was up with the plumbing contractor.

Marty, septic & cesspools must be inspected by the Health Dept when they are installed. Have you checked on the inspection report at their office on Kamehameha, east of Kens?
Most septic cleaning companies can get the effluent test samples (there are a dozen in the phone book, haven't used one here)
This may seem weird, but are you sure you have a septic? For some weird logic I do not understand, most properties here have cesspools, including many public & gov't buildings that legally were to change already.

Kaloli Point + 1/2 acre lot + built in 2005 = most likely septic.

John, Thanks! Didn't know it was on Kaloli Pt....Still I'd get the inspection report from the county & effluent tests are pretty run of the mill. (the inspection report will give the details on the leach field & what was installed, if it was documented properly)

finally got ahold of the tech at roto-rooter. he'll pull access tube covers and look inside for $150. he'll unearth tank covers and inspect for around $300 and do a complete service/pumping for around $600. thanks for the discussion.
