What would you want covered? - csgray - 07-15-2009 On a lighter note, I heard a great Island/Hawaiian cover of a 4 Non Blonds song yesterday on the radio and it started me thinking about how Island/Hawaiian bands do so many great covers of both obscure and famous songs. So my question is: What favorite song do you think would be great reinterpreted Island style? Carol RE: What would you want covered? - John S. Rabi - 07-15-2009 Hookena has some pretty good covers! RE: What would you want covered? - missydog1 - 07-15-2009 How about tweaking the words of Woody Guthrie's "This Land is Your Land, This Land is My Land ...the rhythm would be easy." http://www.bobdylan.com/#/songs/land-your-land RE: What would you want covered? - abe - 07-16-2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_0zA-FnmDM RE: What would you want covered? - LeeE - 07-16-2009 "Doctor Dark" by Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band! RE: What would you want covered? - csgray - 07-16-2009 "Fire on the Mountain" from the Grateful Dead is an obvious choice! Carol RE: What would you want covered? - Greg - 07-16-2009 The Pahinui brothers do a great cover of John Lennon's "Jealous Guy". punatoons RE: What would you want covered? - John S. RE: What would you want covered? - csgray - 07-16-2009 I would love to hear a cover of Sonia Dada's "Raise the Roof Beam" or "Cry" SD was a great band out of Chicago who disappeared when the principle song writer and band leader became a film maker instead. I also think "These Boots are Made for Walking" would make a great Hawaii pop radio hit. Can't you just hear a tight chorus of local girls tearing it up on that one? Carol RE: What would you want covered? - tada - 07-16-2009 How about "Summertime" island style- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8e6WFe95PUk But I wish I knew what Ayano Tsuji saying- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dr6DmwYVljg Other people want to make friends- I just want to make money.
