hey buddy -got a permit for that beer - Bullwinkle - 10-08-2009 http://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/articles/2009/10/07/local_news/local03.txt New rules at the launch ramp - after the bit about flu shots How about a dollar a head entrance from beer drinkers only to fund the security and id check for wristbands - thats how this (ex) - love the sound of that - boat charter operator would do it. RE: hey buddy -got a permit for that beer - Devany - 10-08-2009 LOL Bullwinkle! Great response to that whole story. I actually laughed out loud when I read about the guy riding his ATV. I was surprised to read that drinking was allowed at all there. I thought it was not allowed in county parks. I think $1 a head is a great idea to pay for security.[8D] Aloha au i Hawai`i, devany www.myhawaiianhome.blogspot.com www.eastbaypotters.blogspot.com RE: hey buddy -got a permit for that beer - centipede - 10-08-2009 Problem is, a "good" lawyer can argue that there are serious legal issues surrounding a "fee" or "tax" being levied for admission into an alcohol-consuming environment. RE: hey buddy -got a permit for that beer - Bullwinkle - 10-08-2009 I think a prudent lawyer would advise that the county to steer clear of any liability and ban intoxicants at county recreation facilities altogether. My plan being second best - grin RE: hey buddy -got a permit for that beer - DTisme - 10-09-2009 "Problem is, a "good" lawyer can argue that there are serious legal issues surrounding a "fee" or "tax" being levied for admission into an alcohol-consuming environment." They'll call it a "cover charge"? RE: hey buddy -got a permit for that beer - centipede - 10-10-2009 A "cover charge" is usually something that people pay when they go into an establishment in which kids aren't allowed. RE: hey buddy -got a permit for that beer - Bullwinkle - 10-10-2009 The isuue is ... who is selling the booze In this case its a bring your own deal All the county is doing is verifying age (and hope fully running a warrant check) - to issue a bracelet that identifies this person as being over 21. Id sub it out to securitas or one of those the county may or may not impose a user fee... think of it as a launch ramp for boats and ...... all kidding aside.... do we think anyone is really going to drive down to the police station ID in hand for a beer note? It may be a good way to slow things down a little and make enforcement easier RE: hey buddy -got a permit for that beer - oink - 10-10-2009 Why not just ban booze at that psrk. If you need to cop a buzz you can always smoke a joint. Pua`a S. FL Big Islander to be. RE: hey buddy -got a permit for that beer - 808blogger - 10-10-2009 I add this entire topic to the good grief category. I know this group wont think thats adding much, but seriously..... RE: hey buddy -got a permit for that beer - mdd7000 - 10-10-2009 We spent several hours there (today). Me, the boys and their 2 friends we brought are all "white". No issues what-so-ever. Nor have we had any issues in the last few months. Some of this seems to be a little out of proportion. You show respect, you get respect. (I have observed numerous "locals" smoking weed, in several locations every time we go there. Wonder if they were driving?) |
