concrete price - Seeb - 09-13-2010

does anyone know the current price for concrete delivered to HPP

RE: concrete price - Rob Tucker - 09-13-2010

It's not hard to call up Glover or Yamada and ask them. It will depend on the distance from the plant and the grade or test strength of the concrete.

RE: concrete price - Kapohocat - 09-13-2010

When you call them, also you need to tell them what kind you want - the PSI and what mix - rock mix I am presuming, but there is also grout mix. And will it be pumped at all, you need that info as the pumping operators prefer specific mixes.

If it is a hot sunny day with no rain forecast and you are at the bottom of HPP, you may want them to add retardent to it.

There are many factors involved in pricing.

David, LOL!! That they are!

One thing to keep an eye on is the time when you get a delivery. Make sure you have someone who will get the driver's sheet right away or write down time arrival with shutes on, ready to pour. And mark time, when driver pulls shutes away, and last drop is poured right on delivery ticket that you sign - not after clean-up and driver drank a soda. Con-Ag/Yamada is IMHO being "generous" with their calculations - and you are charged for over time. So keep a close eye on it. (they are allowing 5 min/yard for pour and charging like $5 per minute overtime - or something like that).

If it is multiple trucks they dont seem to be averaging it - so if one truck finished in less time than 5 min x # of yards, it isn't an overall total. And if they are late on delivery, doesn't matter to them - I am not saying a few minutes - but a hour or more.

And although I defended Yamada when Kelly was running things over at the batch plant... no longer do for the new relative running it.

Depending on your job one other call might be to Block Concrete, 959-5592. He did fine on three or four small projects for me. He has a smaller truck that works well for some spots. I also heard the Sanford put up a batch plant at his quarry down Kapoho way. That might help pricing out here but I don't really know if it's open yet.

Sanford is open at the upper quarry near the steam vents. 965-8144 is the #. The price I was quoted was a fair bit cheaper than Yamada. Glover has always been more expensive than Yamada in my experience.

RE: concrete price - LastTangoInPuna - 09-19-2010

The price Linda gave me was $150 a yard to Seaview for 3000#, no minimum. Last time I used Yamada it was in the $185 range with a 5 yard min, and Glover was well over $200.
Please note: they are just starting out, so what I was told may change, so YMMV.
