RE: Elon Musk's Starlink, ISS, - Over Puna - TomK - 04-22-2016 SoCal - my pleasure and thanks for the feedback. It was a particularly good pass last night as it was so bright. It's not always quite as good as that! RE: Elon Musk's Starlink, ISS, - Over Puna - TomK - 04-22-2016 Paul - if you go back to http://stuffin.space/ and center things on Hawaii, you'll see a whole bunch of grey spots moving around. Those are large pieces of debris. Move your cursor over them and you'll see "DEB" at the end of the name. DEB = debris. The site only includes the larger pieces of debris. There are hundreds of thousands of smaller pieces orbiting the Earth. https://youtu.be/IOwv1j-fUbo RE: Elon Musk's Starlink, ISS, - Over Puna - SoCal_to_Hawaii - 04-23-2016 PaulW - I did not see any flashes beforehand. RE: Elon Musk's Starlink, ISS, - Over Puna - TomK - 04-23-2016 Next really good evening opportunity to see the ISS in the evening is 19th June. It can be viewed before then but mostly between 4 and 5am. There's another evening opportunity before 19th June but the sky will be bright. If anyone wants early morning viewing info, let me know, otherwise I'll send a reminder about the June opportunity nearer the time. RE: Elon Musk's Starlink, ISS, - Over Puna - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 05-03-2016 If you're up early Wednesday morning, the ISS will be visible over Puna again: Time: Wed May 04 4:59 AM, Visible: 4 min, Max Height: 73°, Appears: 17° above SW, Disappears: 20° above NNE Famous Last Words. RE: Elon Musk's Starlink, ISS, - Over Puna - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 05-26-2016 This should be a pretty good pass tonight, the ISS will be visible for 6 minutes: Thu May 26 8:02 PM Visible: 6 min Max Height: 61° Appears: 11° above SW Disappears: 11° above NNE “There are worse crimes than burning books. RE: Elon Musk's Starlink, ISS, - Over Puna - TomK - 06-17-2016 There's a very bright pass of the ISS Sunday evening (19th June). Rises 20:01 in the NW, highest point at 20:04:23 in the NE, elevation approx 73 degrees above the horizon so very high in the sky, goes into the Earth's shadow at 20:06 in the SE. Brightest magnitude is -3.4 which is very bright, so should be easy to spot given a clear sky.
