RE: Wuhan Corona Virus Coming Soon? (Now Here) - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 03-29-2020 It seems that if its a working treatment... maybe because orange man mentioned it But is it a verified working treatment? The malarial drug combo has had extremely limited testing, with some positive preliminary results. The drugs also have side effects such as “fatal heart arrhythmia and vision loss” (from your link). It may be better than nothing, but right now it’s hard to say how much better. If put into widespread use, depending on how many people experience the side effects it may turn out to be yet another case of the blind leading the blind. RE: Wuhan Corona Virus Coming Soon? (Now Here) - MarkP - 03-29-2020 If I were a health care professional who relied on N95 masks and knew how to wear them properly I would be outraged seeing average citizens hoarding them and wasting them as they wore them improperly so I see how the argument could be made that they don't do the general public much good. RE: Wuhan Corona Virus Coming Soon? (Now Here) - ironyak - 03-29-2020 geochem - He states pretty clearly that the public don't need medical grade masks As discussed before, the public not needing medical grade masks is one thing - trying to gaslight everyone into believing they don't work is something else. There is an ongoing attempt at disinformation using the term masks and listing their limitations when talking about people who are in fact wearing N95+ respirators. https://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/2020/03/26/hawaii-news/boys-girls-club-initiates-meal-program-to-help-at-risk-people-during-pandemic/ Don't try to psy op-the public if you want them to believe your public health proclamations. Some of us still have our N95s that were handed out like candy during the 2018 lava flow, and are cleaning and recycling them as needed. So if we're all contributing to the shortage of medical masks, it was years in the making and perpetrated largely by the local and federal government. As terracore noted, the fact that front line health care workers here aren't even being allowed to use masks points to much larger problems than some of us reusing supplies to we already had on hand to help reduce the contraction and transmission of the virus. ETA: Some of us actually have proper PPE training as part of our background. No not everyone, but to each their own. You may be surprised at the resumes for many of the Punatics running around - I know I constantly am! RE: Wuhan Corona Virus Coming Soon? (Now Here) - twofeet - 03-29-2020 Just talked to a friend here on this island that just saw a neighbor unloading chicken boxes. Otherwords, they were returning home from a chicken fight. It was on the news yesterday about a 100 people had a chicken fight on Oahu in Waianae. I heard they are around South point on Sundays here. I understand there is a lot of yelling and spitting going on in a close vicinity. Hope they were wearing masks. RE: Wuhan Corona Virus Coming Soon? (Now Here) - Durian Fiend - 03-29-2020 quote: https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/29/fda-emergency-authorization-anti-malaria-drug-155095 I'm guessing that this drug potential benefit is in its alkalizing effect, while Z pack would prevent secondary infection. Good foods for doing the same would be fruits and veggies. Perhaps to avoid would be meats, dairy and coffee. RE: Wuhan Corona Virus Coming Soon? (Now Here) - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 03-29-2020 returning home from a chicken fight. Probably part of Harry Kim’s “flexibility” with the law and definition of essential businesses: http://www.punaweb.org/Forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=26929 RE: Wuhan Corona Virus Coming Soon? (Now Here) - Guest - 03-29-2020 Oh no, mr. bill, not masks... again! Masks work. They protect the wearer from things. That's why people wear them. Does the mask know who is wearing it? What they are doing, their education, profession, where they are? No. Does a mask work for a doctor? Well hot dang, they wear 'em for a reason, yeah? So, why would they not work for me? RE: Wuhan Corona Virus Coming Soon? (Now Here) - SBH - 03-29-2020 I have a few new N95 masks but I bought them in the summer of ‘18 for the eruption. Just mailed two to my 85 year old parents. Seems like there should be lots of masks leftover in Puna, they were giving them away all over that summer and the ash fallout never really materialized here like it did in Kau. Anybody with a sewing machine and lots of free time at home now may want to help make some masks... https://alohamask.org/ https://sarahmaker.com/how-to-sew-a-surgical-face-mask-for-hospitals-free-pattern/ RE: Wuhan Corona Virus Coming Soon? (Now Here) - PaulW - 03-29-2020 Let me explain again, with an example. Having a spare ventilator in your house may one day save your life, no question. But if during a pandemic you go out and buy one then you are keeping something that is in short supply out of the hands of people that actually need it. Better for you, not better for everyone. Some people are fine with that. Most aren't. RE: Wuhan Corona Virus Coming Soon? (Now Here) - Guest - 03-29-2020 Ah, its a supply chain issue. I see. Well I have been using masks for years and didn't have to do anything but look in the pantry and make sure I still have the better part of the box I bought months ago. And of course, there's always the full on respirator in the go bag. But for the uninitiated, I certainly understand people's instincts for self preservation. But, saying one doesn't need a mask, or the mask will not work, or whatever silly line is being passed around to excuse the shortage of masks? Nah, that don't work. And besides, the shortage is not the consumer's fault. How could it be? Using shame and guilt to imply that it is.. nah, that don't work for me. |
