RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 11-14-2019 The protestors have been illegally camping for so long they’ve become stricken with various emotional ailments. And they’re worried about the cold weather: The Attorney General has said the Thirty Meter Telescope has the legal right to build and has called it a dangerous narrative that law enforcement would intentionally hurt people, but the Mauna Medics point to emotional trauma.#8233;"We've been on edge, PTSD, and being in that state for so long takes a toll on the lahui so that's what activist burnout is," said Alapai. https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2019/11/14/mauna-kea-activists-hope-best-prepare-worst/ RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - kalakoa - 11-14-2019 We've been on edge, PTSD, and being in that state for so long Self-imposed. No sympathy. They can leave whenever they want. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - Tink - 11-14-2019 PTSD? Gimme a friggen break! Edit to add- “post” means after. The only traumatic stress after is realizing one spent to much time on the mountain, out of work and money. Possibly repo man at the door for their flashy truck. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - kalakoa - 11-14-2019 being in that state for so long takes a toll on the lahui In other words, the authorities are "winning" simply by wearing down the protestors -- it's really difficult to maintain a "posture of resistance" indefinitely. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - Chunkster - 11-14-2019 "Winning?" This looks a whole lot like one of those situations where everybody loses. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - leilanidude - 11-15-2019 Knowing that the protestors "signal" of impending police action and incoming construction equipment is 3 blasts from an air horn, I am willing to add to their PTSD and buy an air horn. i will then drive up around 3am and blast it... then watch them all scramble out of their tents in the cold. Maybe do that about 3 nights in a row? RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - dan d - 11-15-2019 U got something there leilani dude. I got plenty air horns from me boats. And we can stop and do some nebula observing. I miss observing on MY mountain,( its everybodies) HPP RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - randomq - 11-15-2019 I heard you should always honk 3 times for safety after dark, in case someone is jay-walking the highway at night. For the keiki. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 11-15-2019 Oahu wind farm protestors claim police brutality, probably what we can expect if arrests are ever made on a Mauna Kea Access Road. Raya Salter, an environmental lawyer who was acting as a legal observer at the protest, said police were impatient... #8233;"It got chaotic because people were falling and getting trampled.” Who fell and who was trampled in the chaos? Were protestors asked to leave in an orderly fashion prior to the fracas, or did police start arrests without warning? Imagine the new cases of PTSD this caused. https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2019/11/15/least-arrested-hundreds-wind-farm-protesters-turn-out-kalaeloa/ RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - TomK - 11-15-2019 One day soon there will be new medical term - SITSS. Self-Imposed Traumatic Stress Syndrome. Given we are just past Memorial Day, or Rememberence Day as I knew it where I grew up, I see this as an insult to those who genuinely have PTSD, especially those who fought for our freedom and for our countries and experienced the horrors of combat. I'm curious, did the protesters carry out any kind of ceremony in memory of all those who died to give them their freedom today? |
