Might have been our famous "wind shear" separating the eye from the higher level moisture. In any case, this was a major forecast fail, even though any layman could see that all the models agreed no gusts above ~ 30mph and only about 4" of rain predicted.

And they wonder why people stop taking storm warnings seriously...

This was super mild. There was a little wind last night around midnight, but just grey skies and rain since.

I watched the storm break up as it approached the island. It was dramatic and tangible. Thatʻs enough data for me.

The "Iniki effect".  Always better to get it wrong on the side of caution.

I’m with you kalianna. Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. Or in this case don’t look a gift hurricane in the eye.

Apparently, the storm affected the County in numerous ways more than anyone else.

So county employees get a "snow day" when there wasn't any snow.  Paid time off, I assume.

Classic.

Yes, I fondly remember growing up in the upper Midwest and waking up to more that 6 inches of snow and crossing every bone in my single digit aged body hoping the radio would say my school was closed!

Unfortunately, that joy have having a "snow day" has never been felt by a born here local!

Unfortunately for me as well was finding out in late May that in the years we had more than 8 snow days, we had to make all of them up in June!
