RE: The Bicker Board - leilanidude - 03-09-2026

Of course, the Dude finds that impossible to believe, well, because he is the Dude. A WOMAN pilot???? No effing way!

I shall, in the future, try to do better!
------------
Now there are lots of women pilots. There wasn't when you claim to have had numerous flights with pilot and copilot as women, on flights to Hawaii and I explained why.

You won't ever do better. You are a vile person.

I guess being called vile is still somewhat better that being called pathetic, a knucklehead, an idiot or a TDS sufferer. I don't know if I should be happy or outraged.

At any event, I don't get the "when I claimed to have had numerous flights..." statement, as I commuted from Hawaii to the mainland from 1987 through 2023 with a little bit in early 2024 around 20 to 25 times a year, plus criss crossed the good ole USA (oh GOD the carbon foot print I left! - but not as much as Elon, Zuck and Jeff do in a year!) so, if you're saying that since early 2024, the amount of women pilots has vastly increased, all I can say is HOORAY!

However, from about 2009ish on is when I started seeing an occasional woman in the cockpit. And then more and then more and then more. And then 2 women in the cockpit! Oh the humanity! Including numerous flights to and from Hawaii. And just being clear, this was all on United Airlines.

Working together is very different from what you want or think. It requires working with others and respecting their opinions.

And I suppose you would like us to believe that you work with others and respect their opinions.

Is that what you're saying?

No, I'm not. I'm pointing out that nearly everything in ironyyak's post is about him or her.

So? Isn't that logical? Yak is talking to her. As I am talking to you. I you, Yak her. What's the point Tom? I mean you must have one since you made a post, a condescending one at that, and implied that you are better than Yak. But when asked if the point you made implies that you are of such a standard you can't even feign an answer. So why did you post in the first place? What's the point?

Is Yak talking to themself? I don't think you're helping ironyak, as I'm sure he or she can answer for themself, but maybe you don't think so.

I figured you were going to move from humans have inherent discrimination (which seems like lots of good info to support that) to tying it to the thread's theme about God. There have been lots of ideas shared and time spent building up a dialog about gods and science and how can we say what we know. So while you tied your points to Hawaii while dealing with some headwinds from those unlikely to take the Harvard Implicit Association tests, you still didn't/haven't tied it back to the theme of the thread. Could it be done, maybe, but that path and landing runway is not clear to me.

I really am trying to adopt the possible interpretation of Punaweb as a positive space for collaborative exchange much like a large diverse band. For that to work everyone has to acknowledge and appreciate what each bring to the themes, claim some time to solo, but also fill some background tracks, and be willing to have back and forths without resorting to stomping feet.

Is it possible? Only if we believe it to be and make the effort find a way to work together - otherwise lots of discordant and hamajang outcomes seem likely.

Sorry I did not fully reply - I had to to take 4 legs of terror to the vet today for his 6 month probing, stabbing, claw trimming and teeth cleaning and was running short of time.

Your reference to the Harvard Implicit Association tests made me realize that I should explain the connection of humanity's inherent discrimination to the theme of the God thread a little better. I submit the following:

First, any thought, theory, scientific experiments or anything related to the concept of any God, Supreme Being, Deity etc., is a simple construct of humanity, as is any religion. It is all human made.

Now, I am not in any way disrespecting ones belief in any such God and/or Religion. In fact to the contrary. If believing in a God, the Bible, the Koran, the Torah, or a big bowl of spaghetti - if it works for you, go for it. However, when that belief in any God and/or Religion gets into the hatred, bigotry, discriminating or otherwise any such belief that one human is better than another human because of the belief of whatever God and or Religion one subscribes to, I don't think it is fair to say that any God and/or Religion is inherently discriminatory, when, and a little dot connecting here, humanity, who invented God and/or Religion in the first place is inherently discriminatory in and of itself.

So, what I was attempting to do was continue on in the conversation about God, Religion and expand it to include humanity's inherent discriminatory traits. I was not "jacking" the thread in any way shape or form. I mean it's not like in the middle of say a discussion of tariffs on Chinese imported pre-fabbed houses, I through out some right wing website search engine advertisement. All I was simply trying to do was expand the conversation, about a human made conceived God, a human made written Religion as well as humans inherent discriminatory traits as kind of one big bowl of stew.

A good example of what I am trying to say in all of this is a poster, in rebuttal to my female pilot's comments, called the person I discussed a "black chick." Is that, in any way, shape or form, an acceptable term to use? Is it bigoted? Discriminatory? Is it from the human made construct in the belief of a God? A Religion?

Or is the poster who said that inherently discriminatory?

And then, just remember, that so called "black chick" has busted through wall after wall inherently human discrimination literally from the day she was born. She has far more street cred in my book than anyone who would call her a "black chick" for any reason, be it their belief in a human made God, a human made religion or their own inherently human discriminatory beliefs. And I'll even say she has far more street cred than myself.

In conclusion, I hope this connects the dots for you. And bringing this back to Hawaii, and your clear love of music, I bring to you a cover of John Lennon's song "Imagine." This cover song was in part performed and filmed here in Hawaii and features Hawaiian inspired ukulele's and guitars. I hope you enjoy! I also hope someday everyone can join and the World will live as one.

ETA: I just realized amongst all this female pilot talk, that just a few days ago, United Airlines announced that for the first time in aviation history as well as United Airlines history, a female has become the most senior pilot - to over 18,000 other pilots.

I haven't kept up with other bits of this thread, but if someone is using the term "black chick" in any other way than quoting the term, then it's sexist and racist. They'd be out of a job at any place I've worked and would likely face a lawsuit.

PS. OK, I see it - MyManao in the god thread. A racist and sexist comment in one short sentence. What a shock. I've saved it, but won't repost it because it should never have been posted here in the first place. It's utterly disgusting.

Correct.   Coming from a man "chick" is inappropriate and considered insulting by women.   OTOH, they can call themselves chicks, just like blacks can call themselves the N word.

It's also a dated term. A few decades back we had a group in HS named "chicks and dudes against apathy".
