Tom,
I found this:

Hawai‘i Police Department was called to the camp Thursday between 9:30 and 10 a.m. Authorities say 35-year-old Jacinto K. Zulueta was taken into custody for harassment after “purportedly hurling a urine filled jug at the victim.”

Thank you!

I do find it ironic that the people who last summer claimed law enforcement infringed on their rights of civil disobedience, their freedom to engage in illegal acts which then affected thousands & thousands of other people including taxpayers, workers on Mauna Kea, hunters, visitors, residents - - now call the same law enforcement agency to complain about someone living in their camp who may have inconvenienced one other person living in their camp, assuming the alleged jug tosser had any accuracy in his aim.

Because there are rules (like laws?) that must be followed at the camp, and the offending party didn’t follow their rules:

...the rule for anyone who comes to the mauna is to practice kapu aloha... “Unfortunately, he was unwilling to play by camp rules,” Wong-Wilson said.

So arrest him. Problem solved.
Kumbaya.

Absolutely, it's crazy. There is another thing going on right now which I can't say much more about right now, but it's a splinter group calling themselves something along the lines of the Hawaiian Kingdom and are allegedly trespassing on DHHL land a little farther up from the protestor camp. Hopefully, it will be reported by the media soon.

Tomorrow (Sunday March 1st) is the end of the "truce". It'll be interesting to see what happens in the next few days. I'm not expecting much to happen, but who knows?

How to defeat the TMT, from Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals:
#1. "Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have."
#4. "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules."
#8. "Keep the pressure on."
#10. "The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition."

Just a few years ago, protestors on Maui tried blocking the shipment of equipment for a solar telescope on Haleakal#257;. They were arrested the same night, hauled to jail, and that was the end of it. The observatory was completed & the first major images, incredible closeups of the sun were released today. They’re spectacular. It’s making news all around the world, even with Coronavirus, impeachment, major earthquakes and everything else that’s goin on.

StUNning!!

Our sun.. our source... our benevolent orb....

Wonder what else they're seeing with the new telescope?

“Japan has suspended its yearly funding for the Thirty Meter Telescope, citing the stalemate over its construction on Mauna Kea. While this doesn’t mean the country is pulling out of the multi-nation project as opponents urged it to do, the country does supply key components for the telescope.”

Former Tokyo resident Ikuko Kurata, who helped organize a meeting between telescope opponents and consulate staff, said the project may not be known in Japan.
“Not many Japanese know about this issue,” said Kurata. “They don’t know 135 million yen (in) tax money is being used for TMT.”
The current value of 135 million yen is about $1.2 million.

So, just be clear, the headlines today about Japan suspending funding are incorrect. Japan has reduced funding this year due to the TMT stalemate, i.e., construction is not going ahead at the moment, but has not suspended it. The Japanese partners for the TMT project still want the TMT to be built on Mauna Kea.

Amazing how far back this thread has fallen...

So, for a few days now, while good ol' #19 ravages the planet, and the news cycles too, we had an article in the local rags entitled...

Thirty Meter Telescope cost estimate increases to $2.4B

From: https://www.westhawaiitoday.com/2020/03/17/hawaii-news/thirty-meter-telescope-cost-estimate-increases-to-2-4b/

Which makes me wonder.. with the cost skyrocketing, and the world economy plummeting, will this project be just another bit of flotsam in the annals of what might have been pre #19 or does it have a chance of rising out of the ashes of our demise?

Regardless, for #19 to have driven this thread, and the announcement of the projects rise in cost, off the pages of our reality sure says a lot in and of itself.

Any guesses?
