I tried to discuss the nuts and bolts of the thread issue, but well first was told that my house is fictitious.

Then, after adding more nuts and bolts, I am apparently voting with my dollars and voting against my own interests blah blah blah.

Then, of course, I am voting for an infantile, fed on the breast of apartheid, spoiled brat who dreams of world dominance. Essentially, the Fourth Reich.

And then, add in that I am a lemming, with no morality.

Of course, wouldn't you know, I also have shallow convictions and support kiddie porn. But of course I do, because I sold all my morals.

I think you get the message. I won't bother with all the hypocrisy in all of this, my last post on the subject thread summed that up well enough.

In hindsight, my mistake was, has and is in replying to this nonsense in the first place. It is clear that there more or less can be no discussion of a subject matter, because all some desire to do is turn it into political crap and of course, replete with as many personal attacks as possible, along with simply being a pack of hypocrites sitting in judgement.

Yes, It's quite sad actually.

Going to do the rare honor of fully quoting a post, as it's such a fascinating example of laying out all the evidence and then rejecting the obvious conclusion. Yes Julie, giving money to Musk with one hand while wagging your finger at him with the other makes you a hypocrite, by definition. Just because others may be hypocritical doesn't change or somehow excuse that decision. You have options, you can choose differently if you want to embrace your supposed morals and allow them to guide your actions, instead of just protecting your pocketbook.

When people complain about the state of the world, it's these type of self-serving and rationalizing decisions that often seem to be the root cause - "sure I don't agree with the racism, misogyny, attacks on the free press, etc, etc, but the economy was so much better last time" (until it wasn't of course) and now we have secret police hauling ladies out of their Hawai'i abodes in the middle of the night, people being profiled for harassment and detainment on the mainland streets and at HNL, broadcaster licenses being threatened if they don't tow the party line, and ~20% increases on local gas prices to boot (even more if you're a devoted patron of '76 in Kurtistown). All of which is thanks to the $250+ million that people like yourself contributed to the cause, directly or indirectly.

Maybe taking a stand for what is right has a cost worth paying and allowing the amoral nature of economics be the primary guide for decision making has had, and will continue to have, negative consequences for everyone?

While my using Starlink may seem hypocritical and very well maybe as it relates to myself (I don't see Obie getting the same dressing down over his overwhelming "vote" for Starlink) but what I find more hypocritical is chastising someone for doing something, while they themselves do the same something equal to or worse. Like having to venture out to "get gas and water" after being deluged with millions of gallons of water, and why do you need gas?

As for the rest of your diatribe, I don't see Musk as being directly involved in all of that. Maybe Musk was indirectly involved, but then, one could argue if so, then based upon their numerous stated views, so is PunaTang. Oh yeah, and Kane. And his confession that his whole Kenoi story was Grok after all. (And yet, no dressing down there, just a funny cute YouTube video in reply!)

At any event, if you feel all warm and fuzzy by making me the bad girl, have at it! Your attempted professing of your  virtues of being as pure as the fresh driven snow while I just piss all over it and make it yellow, is, to say the least, quite humorous. And rather facetious.

Such a sweet tongue. I bet it took some real conniving to get a guy to swoon to that kine song.

I admit my tongue might be sweet, but it can't stand a chance up against your sweet sugary goodness:

There's nothing surprising about Obie going that route.

This is all my fault.  Sorry I brought it up!  Big Grin

RE: The Bicker Board - ironyak - 03-19-2026

HiloJulie - While my using Starlink may seem hypocritical and very well maybe as it relates to myself (I don't see Obie getting the same dressing down over his overwhelming "vote" for Starlink) but what I find more hypocritical is chastising someone for doing something, while they themselves do the same something equal to or worse.

What have I done that is the same or something equal to or worse, than knowingly and willingly giving my money to a far-right, anti-democratic, pedophilic billionaire?

As Durian Fiend mentioned, it's no surprise that Obie uses Starlink as he's shown he's fully on board with the conservative grievance politics merged with anti-woke tech corporatism that is modern American fascism. Same goes for Terracore, and Kane down in Wa'a Wa'a, who I imagine uses Starlink on principal alone, damn the costs, but only when it's powered by a diesel generator dangling truck nuts and running a rich mix so he can roll coal with every post - anything less would amount to being a soy libtard cuck.

If you didn't read my summary of Kane's Punaweb contributions, he's been a known semi-cogent conspiracist for at least the 17 years he's been here, so I don't expect much from him in the way of ethical, or factual, analysis in his decision making. He gets one liner doge responses because he's now indicating his brain is possibly so fried from an excess of X and possible repeat COVID infections that he has to rely on AI for anything more than one word posts. So him using Starlink/Grok/xAI is not unexpected nor noteworthy. So sad, but like for many on Punaweb, the lifetime of substance abuse and avoidance of cognitive exercise has obvious consequences.

I poke at you Julie and maybe a couple others in the hope that you may actually have a conscience in there somewhere and therefore able to exercise some degree of ethical reasoning in your decision making. It's rare in the boomers these days, but worth trying to find the few left that aren't wholly on board with the F.U. Got Mine, dragon-like wealth-hoarding, Build the Wall against the brown hordes, and Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran brain rot.

Like having to venture out to "get gas and water" after being deluged with millions of gallons of water, and why do you need gas?
We don't drink the catchment for reasons discussed here previously (anyone bothered to check if your catchment system meets National Science Foundation (NSF) P151 standards or y'all still just slurping down the lead and heavy metals leached into your tanks from the vog?) and the gas is for the sawing of the downed trees. My 20-year-old emergency tools still require dino juice, and although I'm having to use them more and more lately (like something is changing with the climate and all), the embodied energy issue argues against replacement, and I know I can buck 40ft+ 9in+ diameter ohia in the rain as needed. If anyone has tested out some of these new electrical chainsaws under Puna conditions, please let me know your findings.

As for the rest of your diatribe, I don't see Musk as being directly involved in all of that.
Assuming this isn't a pretty little lie, Musk's wealth is now largely based on the valuation of SpaceX which wholly owns Starlink. Musk also directly cut off Ukrainian access to Starlink to disrupt their offensive against Russia. So Musk very much is directly involved and uses the valuation of SpaceX/Starlink, that its customers like you contributes to, in order to influence politics and geopolitics in the U.S. and abroad. Why would you want to support this anti-democratic far-right defender of non-consensual nude image generation, including images of underage individuals, with your money?

Yeah those Reaganomics years were a mess, figured we would have learned not to elect sundowning rich white racists to be president, but here we are once again. Wonder if when those Special Forces boys show up they'll be shot at with the arms Ronnie and Ollie and the boys sold back during Iran-Contra? Talk about an ironic extension of the imperial boomerang!

But I do like me some Rhythm Nation, so maybe your other half can get Grok to make a new music video with Janet and Faulkner together so they can engage in a rap and dance battle on the Seaview lawn? That seems like a great use of time and resources right, as some of us are too busy actually following the "Keoni/Pele/Grok" advice and clearing downed trees and helping people restock supplies in the real world of Puna. ;)

RE: The Bicker Board - Wao nahele wahine - 03-19-2026

Kane obviously struck a nerve in you, Ironyak.

Like many others, we have been busy cleaning up after the storm and also making sure our houseguest made it to the airport in a safely and timely manner for his flight.  If you are trying to infer either of us engages in substance abuse now or in the past, you are incorrect.

eta: Your assumptions that Kane was: "not caring about the potential impacts if he was wrong doesn't appear to be wisdom, just callous disregard for human health and well-being" is also incorrect. Maybe you're the one who needs to stop "making up stuff about people and things you don't know or understand."

(03-19-2026, 02:21 AM)ironyak Wrote: What have...

See above for rest.

You have made a bunch of assumptions with a very wide, huge, massive, and big brush stroke, and provided a whole bunch of justifications for some being the equivalent of threading a needle as wide as a pro football field goal post, while saying I and a few others should thread a needle smaller than a pencil dot.

As for everything else about Musk, well yeah, I can't disagree. As for influencing politics and geopolitics in the US and abroad, and again, while Musk does that, and was one big provider of the platforms that made 80ish million people fall for an absolute con man, I don't think it is fair to say that my purchase of Starlink makes me a supporter of this anti-democratic far-right defender of non-consensual nude image generation, including images of underage individuals, with my money.  Nor does it make me wholly on board with the F.U. Got Mine, dragon-like wealth-hoarding, Build the Wall against the brown hordes, and Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran brain rot, of which, I am the farthest thing in the world from. And it is quite disingenuous to cast even just some in an absolute light like that.

I am now far more concerned about our new 2026 version of Vietnam. I don't see Musk jumping up and down in support for that war and it is now been estimated that 30,000 to 50,000 activists have smuggled Starlink into Iran, and when Musk was told about that, made access to the internet free. Maybe my new Starlink purchase is subsidizing that instead?

As for 20 plus year old emergency tools, even you would have to agree that the new dino juiced ones made today would be much better for the environment and all than those old ones. But hey, its OK. I get it.

As for what I did, I went and bought and tested and used some of these new electrical yard tools, such as a chainsaw under Puna conditions and I'll gladly let you know my findings.

They work. Perfectly. As equal to their gas counterparts. I have a Stihl chainsaw that can tackle that 40' X 9" Ohia any time of the day in as heavy rain as Hilo weather can muster. Weed whacker too. Hedge trimmer too. Only downside, when purchasing all three items here locally through our local Garden Exchange, was getting the tool but having to wait 3 months to get the batteries. And each tool uses the same battery. And, since I have solar, no dino juice being used to charge those batteries up full.

Yes, they do have certain limitations. But we have a large majority of people against these alternative energy options and damn them to immediate failure just like how the Ford Lightning - the fully electric version of the Ford F150 pick up being pronounced a failure because it can't tow a 12,000 pound trailer up a 12% grade. I would not try using my new Stihl chainsaw, or its old dino juiced counterpart on a 2 foot diameter 120 foot tall gun powder tree. But some would. And say its junk!

As for drinking catchment water, there are numerous filtration systems out there that are all approved to filter out water, heavy metals and lead to better than NSF P151 standards and we test our drinking water every month, changing membrane, charcoal filters and cleaning the UV filters monthly. And as we are again, on solar, the UV filter chugs and chugs not burning one drop of dino juice.

No slurping of bad water for Barney. Or me or my husband or anyone else in our house at any time. And yeah all those filters and equipment and testers all bought here locally.

Now, yes, I am a boomer!!! But painting people with a single, big, very wide, huge and massive big brush stroke does not help the discussion at all.

I'd say to better understand me is to consider me the female version of Bill Maher. I sit in the dead center, trying to get the pendulum to move a little to left here and a little to the right there. If I could, as Bill did, I'd sit down to a dinner with the sent from God, Holy King Highness. And, as Bill did, I'd tell him what I think of him. But, as one of Bill's main themes has always been, that when the pendulum swings into the far crazy right, its equal and opposite reaction is to swing into the far crazy left. I think you might need to swing your pendulum more towards the center, as a lot of what you say, even if just to me and a few others tends to be stuck on far crazy left side.

And lets, hopefully, and collectively, stop all this performative art of nonsense. We got 19,000 votes to find.
