In early 80s when PuuO began to blow, every morning we had 1/4 " of ash and hair on our cars, plants etc, it wiped out much ag on the volcano to Keaau side, nurseries had to cover up, and acids killed many non natives!
Remember PuuO built a 400' cinder cone above itself, it towered over Hirano store in Glenwood by 1984! We now are totally at the mercy of the trades!
Interesting times lay ahead! There is no doubt that somthing is going to happen, but no
one knows what! Feel the tremors, when they become "harmonic" kind of like a subway, watch for Red!

I was watching over a little girl on Sunday at an Easter party. Her name was, of course, Brianna. She was fine on Sunday.

We lived outside of Kalama, Washington up the Kalama River, about 25 miles as the crow flies from St. Helens.
I categorically deny that our moving to the Big Island in 2004 had anything to do with Pele starting to grumble!

We were camping near St Maries, Idaho, downwind of Mt St Helens when she blew her top. Got covered with 8" of ash and it dried up all the springs and little streams for days. Not the best camping trip but one of the most memorable!
I promise to NOT go camping downwind of Halema'uma'u! :-)

I've been watching the web cam on and off all day. The amount of "stuff" pouring out of the crater is amazing. Sometimes you can see people standing at the viewing area taking pictures. ( I thought that area was closed off?)
My theory, because Glen has been quiet about this today, it that Glen has Brianna, and they are on their way to the volcano right now. I'm sure there will also be gin involved.
Looking at it, I really think something is about to happen. If so, I hope everyone is safe!

I've read that when ash falls (a real likelihood if/when the trades change) you are supposed to disconnect and cover your catchment system, did anyone cover tanks when ash was falling a 1/4" a day from PuuOo? If so what worked the best? Trying to be prepared in HPP!!
