I spent close to $500 on a .22 Benjamin Marauder and hand pump. Seems great so far. The sproingy trigger noise is the loudest part. Accuracy is pretty darn good compared to the other air rifles I have. I have not shot it much yet so I can't really give a thorough review but it seems to be the gun I should have bought right off. Pumping is humbug though.
Anyway I can not justify spending any more money on anything shooting related. Any serious money that is. I do want to get some H&N Baracuda match pellets. Although the nominal size is 5.50 mm diameter they are available in 5.51, 5.52, and 5.53 mm diameter. I am furious with Crosman over the NP XL barrels generally being lousy and when I left off in my experimentation there I had discovered that 21.14 grain Beeman Kodiak pellets worked the best simply because they were the tightest fit. They seem to be no longer available The H&N Baracudas are supposed to be the same pellet. I have no idea whether they are really larger than the Beeman Kodiaks which were themselves noticeably larger than the other .22 pellets I tried but if so that might make the old NPXL worth shooting.

Any of you guys need a scope? I just got a new Crosman rifle and it came with a Center Point 4x32. I've got a better one that I'm putting on the rifle so, if you want it post here and I'll figure out how to get it to you... Oh, FREE and comes with rings too!

I don't need it. But, they are okay scopes. I have 2-3 of them, and they work.

By the way, Mark, though this scope doesn't have an adjustable objective, with the front ring marked at different distances, you can still adjust that front objective to a distance you want to. Not something you'll be wanting to do multiple times a day, but you can set it for the distance you deem you like to shoot at.

I'm really attracted to the PCP rifles (except for the price). I only know a few people who have owned them and they have both lamented that the seals gave out after a few years rendering it useless. They were both early adopters so maybe they are building them better now. The only other complaint I heard was that the pellets cost as much (or more) than comparable firearm rounds. The only reason I'm interested in an air rifle is to keep the noise down. There is some traction in the current administration and the ATF to get rid of the tax stamp requirement for suppressors. Unfortunately Hawaii lawmakers have seen too many James Bond films and have no idea what they are really used for or how they work.

I should give up on the Benjamin NPXL already but there are still a couple of things I want to try. One of those things is getting some 5.55mm pellets. Surprisingly they are still rather affordable at $16 for 500 so not anywhere near even .22 rimfire prices. A regular .22 is 5.50mm. The .22 pellets are so much more affordable than .25. I don't even know where to buy .30 cal pellets. Anyhow I need to do more research on how the larger pellets shoot out of both the NPXL and the marauder. I didn't know they were available till just recently. So far though the Marauder is pretty sweet. It is the most accurate of the air rifles I own even with cheapo Crosman pellets, has no recoil, and is really quiet. It is bolt action not semi-auto.

Late last year I saw some .22 rimfire near that price range, bulk retail, (after manufacturer rebate)... But I was on the mainland.
