I'm going to "butt in here," seeing as though you love that when I do, and since this is the "Bicker Board" it is quite appropriate that I do.
IMHO, it was not that the off the cuff comment that is an issue, even though there was absolutely no justifiable reason for it.
I'd say it's more of you having the personality of battery acid.
