RE: Your Favorite Subdivision! - Rose C - 01-04-2007 That's good to know. I will inform my daughter of your view. Thanks for your input. I did send her copies of all the previous postings about Aloha Estates. Rose C RE: Your Favorite Subdivision! - Rose C - 01-04-2007 Does anyone have a suggestion for a subdivision other than Aloha Estates that would be good for a single woman to buy a home in? My youngest daughter has a home in Volcano Village and my oldest daughter wants to be close to her sister but likes it a bit warmer than Volcano. Rose C RE: Your Favorite Subdivision! - Robin C - 01-04-2007 Rose. How about over at the Volcano Golf Course? It is a lot drier than the Village. Temperatures vary, but it seems to be to be warmer. Robin RE: Your Favorite Subdivision! - toucano - 01-04-2007 I have a very vague recollection of driving into Aloha Estates when I was looking at lots. Seems like the roads were... crude to be kind. And navigation was "go 3 streets past telephone pole XYZ" and take a left, but without being able to identify telephone pole XYZ. That said, it I wanted to build unpermitted and live off the grid. RE: Your Favorite Subdivision! - waynesb - 01-07-2007 Volcano Country Club is 4000 ft, compared to Volcano Village of 3700, Ohia Estates 3500. Country Club is unikely to be warmer. RE: Your Favorite Subdivision! - oink - 01-07-2007 Volcano Country Club is just over the crest or right at it resulting in it being at the edge of the rain belt. It tends to be a bit sunnier so it can at least feel warmer. Its very close to the start of the Kau Desert. If I can come by some more scratch I might buy a lot there as I very much like some aspects of the neighborhood. I would prefer if it was a bit more rustic, but heck, it is a country club neighborhood. I wonder if I could get a yearly pass for the wine tasting? S. FL Islander to be RE: Your Favorite Subdivision! - Rose C - 01-12-2007 Thanks everyone for your input. I'm back on the mainland after seven weeks in Volcano. Brr, it's cold here in San Jose, Ca and tomorrow I'm actually going home to Sacramento where it is even colder. I did like the even temperatures in Volcano - it sure growth on you and the people are nice too. I did look at some homes in Volcano Golf & Country club and recommended one in particular to my daughter. Now it's up to her. I also looked at a home in Aloha Estates and at the time I had our little granddaughter and her mom with me. We were attacked by mosquitos and I couldn't get out of there fast enough just for that reason. We stayed in Kapoho Beach lots at a friend's house for a few days and that is still my favorite place, but too far from the rest of the family and too expensive.
