Yeah I did some checking and found you are right.For a mechanic with 30 years working midnight shift with multiple licenses.
New guys start a lot lower.
The big issue is scope.
SWA doesn't want to allow them to work the ETOPS flights. SWA plans to contract that out which takes away jobs from the Unions.The Union mechanics have been working on those planes but when they go ETOPS they will not be allowed to touch those planes.

Yup an A&P fresh out of school gets about 45k fixing seats and toilets ...a Jet wrench gets about a 100k these days ....even a good (read no license) marine diesel wrench flat rates at 70 dollars an hour ...times change....

You might be in the ballpark with your $99 initial fare price prediction. Southwest just announced they will have lower than normal introductory fares:
As a result, the Dallas-based carrier (Southwest) missed a key booking window for travel to the Hawaiian islands, which Watterson said passengers tend to reserve months in advance, rather than days or weeks.
This means Southwest has had to offer lower-than-average introductory fares through mid-June to stimulate passenger traffic.
"After that we'll have the traditional Southwest low fares in the subsequent booking period," Watterson said.
Southwest will begin flying to Hawaii with its Boeing 737-800 NG planes and plans to switch to 737-MAX 8 aircraft later this year, he said.
