"Now we not only have two people who have contracted it within out borders, but some 130 passengers of a domestic flight from Ohio to Dallas are being contacted by the CDC, and the stock market is falling due to low confidence in safe air trouble"

How many of those passengers do you think will have contracted ebola? My prediction: zero.

How do you know the stock market fell due to low confidence in "air trouble"?

Julie,
I have been in healthcare for over 20 years. Yes, it is all about making the money (unfortunately). Your points are valid. Being a nurse, our salaries were considered as part of the "room and board" during hospital operations/billings. So, in turn, they work the fewest amount of nurses as possible to deliver care. In some cases, where a LPN or RN is better suited, CNA's are used to deliver care because their wages are lower. The public at large may not be aware of these factors or behind the scenes type of functioning. Thanks for bringing it up.

Best wishes

Why not run a simple search before issuing a challenge? I know there are other issues with airlines stocks that are a factor, but it did made national headlines.

NBC Business Markets section "Airline stocks tumble amid Ebola fears."
Just another rabid conspiracy website.

Paul, have you ever posted from an iPhone? The auto-correct has a way of sneaking in changes. Thus air travel becomes air trouble ...
It's a message board and typos happen.
But do ask your doctor to write out the word hospital on your next appointment, as it matters so much. Also explain to him or her that penmanship counts and what you are seeing is not up to snuff. [:p]

The whole market fell, it is unlikely it was caused by airline stocks because they are just a small percentage.
The airline stocks fell because the market fell. How many airline stocks in the Dow? None, as far as I know.
Bank stocks were hardest hit. What does that have to do with Ebola.

Auto-correct? That's the first thing any computer-literate person turns off. It's not hard and you can avoid a lot of embarrassing mistakes.

Why should anyone else bother reading your posts if you yourself don't? I'm not singling you out, you're by no means the only one.

I would run a mile from any doctor who didn't know how to spell simple words. Some people struggle with three-letter ones.

Yes Paul... automated correction is a feature most often employed by touch screen devices and often screws up the most simplistic of words from fat fingering the screen or simple imperfections in its programing routine. Without this feature many people would struggle with simply trying to get the device to write a single sentence without constant re-corrections. Get over it so others can read through a topic without having to read through your whining drivel that is not relevant to the topic.

If you're looking for perfect spelling, you've come to the wrong place as I doubt anyone here is writing with an expectation of it becoming published and put on a New York book stand.

If you feel so damn strongly about your convictions; why do you come here? What is the reason for your visits to this forum?

Paulw,
"Computer-literate person" lol... that coming from a person who has obviously had little to no experience with touchscreen devices. What a joke.

Nobody said the suits were not available, just that they were not used. They were not needed for non-Ebola patients, why for this one. Because he had Ebola! But we didn't know that then. Keep perspective. Yesterday we were lamenting that the sky was falling and the end was nigh (many still are) because trained professionals got infected "in spite of the hazmat suits". That wasn't what happened apparently. True, the situation is serious but lets all remember that rush to judgement as we go forward.

thought this by MarkP deserved a repeat. emphasis mine.

Here's a quick rudimentary touchscreen device lesson for you Paul.

I'll was typed as Ill and auto corrected with an apostrophe. If I type ill it will result as I'll automatically. The number of odd nuances in the automation of spelling programs is often different from one device to the next. Failure to employ the feature will result in far worse mistakes or add to the time of typing beyond usefulness.

I use two touchscreen devices, a tablet and a smartphone each are different in their typing programing.

One must become very in tune with their spelling program keyboard functions to learn every unique attribute it employes. Beyond that feature is a menu atop the key pad image that displays words that the program predicts the user is about to write based on current input and the user may select the word from the upper menu if they should so select to save time from fumbling with thumbs to type a whole word.

Because the width of a device can vary for the user depending on the orientation the user selects to type in (horizontal or vertical). The digits chosen to type with can also vary from index fingers or thumbs etc. One does not typically type as they would with a common mechanized keyboard and therefore is no-longer able to use the sense of touch to type and is often forced to look directly at the keyboard to finger in the desired letters. This most unfortunately talks the typist eye off what's actually being typed on the screen and therefore leads to immediate difficulties in proofing input to output.

Sometimes after proofing what was created it is more a hassle to edit than let slide as is. In either case, use of a touchscreen introduces many obstacles to overcome for the user and is far more complex to use than traditional mouse and keyboard systems. Just getting the screen to sense ones touch is sometimes a problem and the trying to get the cursor into the proper position in something already written to edit it can be a major challenge.

Copy and paste routines are also more difficult on a touchscreen vs. a mouse and keyboard device.

There you have it Paul. A little computer-literate update from the real world of today's computers. The first thing a computer-literate person does not do is turn off the spelling features on a touchscreen device... lol that was funny as hell. I'm still chuckling over that one.

We who use these touchscreen devices are often surprised by what they spit out in messages and such. We also know to figure out what was intended when a flub shows up. No biggie, sometimes it's funny stuff.
