It’s funny how many people, the entire first page of this thread, got on Punaweb when they thought a nuclear missile was inbound about to strike and threaten to end all of our lives. Instead of preparing to survive, they’re checking Punaweb!
Now the late night comedians have more ammo to make fun of Hawaii. Apparently the rest of Hawaii preferred other sites to go to immediately after the false alarm was sent out.

I tried the news services, local & national, as well as state and county emergency agencies. There was nothing reported on the news sites, and the government emergency pages wouldn't load. Punaweb could be accessed and had some information. Of course, sitting at my computer when a nuclear missile might have been inbound was based on my view that Big Island most likely wasn't the target. If I had been on Oahu I think I would have taken a different, more focused approach to possible survival scenarios in the 15 minutes I might have had left to live.

Therein lies the rub. There are widely divergent views on the accuracy of North Korean missiles as well as on the strength of their nukes. Being the biggest land mass in the vicinity might actually make the Big Island more likely to be hit than Oahu, even if the BI isn't the intended target.

Yes good point Rich, there was no information anywhere at the time. It’s a compliment to Rob’s Punaweb!
Maybe that password seen on the Post-it on the computer at Hawaii Emergency Management was actually their password to Pornhub. That would explain the incoming missile.

When you look at the distance from Korea to Hawaii and the size of the Hawaiian Islands in the vast Pacific Ocean, an off target missile is far more likely to hit water, big water, ocean water, than land. Instead of big land.
Then again, as the Minnesota Vikings discovered last Sunday, sometimes you just chuck the ball up in the air with 10 seconds left on the clock, and not only does someone from their own team manage to haul it in, the defenders miss tackling him, and he runs in for a touchdown to win the game. Even with a low probability, it's true, anything can happen. If it's North Korea chucking up the nukes though, I still think odds are good that Big Island is a miss.

ICBM aside, I personally am more concerned with his kissing up to South Korea to fanagle his way into the Olympics, and what shenanigans he may be up to there. After all, the world will be watching...
