How do you know that there are "very few."
As far as I know, there has never been an accurate count done that will support that statement as fact.

"The USPS does not do anything for free. They can't afford to. The USPS "provided" mailboxes because it was easy for them. They would look generous and HPPOA would "sell" the idea to HPP owners, helping the USP avoid a massive customer outcry (and more bad publicity)."
What's going to happen if HPPOA loses the court case.
How many people are going to be mad when there are no mailboxes ?
The USPS pretty much promised they were going away because they are unsafe.

I personally hope the court case teaches HPPOA a lesson and that they are reined in and have to figure out how to be a REAL non-profit. And I am not worried about the USPS. I firmly believe the USPS had no intention of taking mail service away from HPP and I do not believe they will. MORE terrible customer service and too much bad publicity (hard to ask for money when you have a bunch of states unhappy with you and your "service.")
HPP mailboxes are no more unsafe than the direct to house boxes in Hilo, those on the hwy, or anywhere else rural. And the boxes "current" locations on the roads can be modified to meet USPS specs- it isn't that difficult. In addition, as long as the "current" mailbox sites are modified and meet USPS standards, there really is no justification for the USPS to refuse delivery.
I'm not worried about it. I have no problem taking on the USPS.

Still, with HPPOA running rogue and getting encouragement from the USPS, it makes the fight more difficult. Right now, patience is required.

How can a subdivision be a REAL non-profit?
There are no grants available for subdivisions. We're not a charity or anything else that would qualify.

Still, there is more to substandard subdivisions, in Puna, Hawaii than mailboxes.
Anyone from ANY substandard subdivision in Puna, Hawaii, have concerns about their road fees and their associations?
Do you like your associations? Why or why not?
Do you feel you are getting your road maintenance bang for your buck? Why or why not?
