Thanks for the vine info ..
Found our first vine for sale in Leilani $2 for a 4 inch pot the vine well set and about a foot tall .
Then today in Nanawale a friend had one with many keiki's we got 8 starts.
Not sure where to put them we're thinking the big iron wood ?
Oh also went to the zoo and saw the red vine at the monkey cage I'm sure it's impressive when in full bloom..

Ironwoods put out some chemical that discourages anything from growing under them, maybe ask a pro before planting something you care about in the soil under them.

KathyH yes I have heard that. The only thing growning under our ironwood are impatience(spelling)? And a red mushroom that looks like a starfish a stink mushroom I think it's called.
The jade plants are all in their pots in a cozy place until a new perfect place is found.

impatiens, yep, not fussy. I have pulled them out by the roots and thrown them somewhere on top of the ground uprooted and they grow. I have cut pieces of them and thrown them on the ground and they took root and thrived. All they need is water. [Smile]

Blue Jade vines need a bit more TLC until they get established; then they are tough. They don't need a whole lot of soil though. I put one next to a dracaena (a big one) with just about a gallon pot full of soil and it did fine, but dracaena don't make the ground toxic; I grew all sorts of stuff under mine. Maybe find another spot than ironwoods.

Nice work scoring them so cheap. [Smile]

Another job for my DH.
It's so fun I'm loving it! Even the weeds are beautiful!
DH has wintered here the last 6 yrs. Soon I have to go back to Alaska. [Sad]

By all means kill off your ironwood. It's a horrible invasive and you can be pretty sure that your tree alone has seeds that get dispersed somewhere else. They displace native trees and take over entire areas. Also, be careful how many jade plants you are planting. I have a blue one that very easily took over 50' of 5' high chain link fence and would be happy to take over the rest and my lanai. There are times I have been gone a week and have been shocked how much they have grown. I imagine they grow much faster in Nanawale than Seaview.

If Í had my way the ironwood would of been gone 6years ago!
But my husband has a special bond with it!
It's a massive tree droping needles everywhere!

Thanks for the heads-up on the jade vine ..
I only wanted a couple but now I know we have too many.. We'll just have to see how good they do and keep the best I'm sure I can find a good home for the rejects..

The ironwood is a horrible tree. It spreads needles and seeds everywhere, is as ugly as the American obsession with the Kardashians, and they grow to a zillion feet tall. They kill absolutely everything beneath them. The little pine cones blow everywhere. In fact, a little pine code blew 600 feet to the lot behind me and in the six months I have been here grew 15 feet tall. I sawed it down as a public service. I hate, hate, hate these trees. Folly to have brought them here.
