RE: CDPs thrownout - kalakoa - 01-10-2013 R 313-12 claims it "allows time for community input", which seems redundant given the amount of "input" that went into the PCDP. Ironically, this resolution would delay the dialysis clinic, which some might feel is "necessary" -- unlike, say, another McDonald's. RE: CDPs thrownout - Rene Siracusa - 01-21-2013 Village Centers are an important feature of the Puna CDP, but the CDP does not go into detail about each one. That is where the community input comes in: to do the fine tuning. That is what is in the process, and why extra time is being requested (to June 30th). As for the dialysis clinic: no one doubts that we need one, but the medical waste disposal issue was the killer: Dept. of Health requires that a dialysis clinic be hooked up to a sewer system and, as you know, there is none in Pahoa. So Gilbert Aguinaldo withdrew his application. He is, by the way, one of the community members on the Pahoa Village Center Steering Committee. The PCDP has asked the Environmental Management Dept. to build a sewer system in Pahoa, because without it we are severely limited in our growth potential. RE: CDPs thrownout - nana valley - 01-22-2013 Rene, you are so full of information for us Punawebbers! Thank you...always interesting to read what you say. ![]() RE: CDPs thrownout - Radiopeg - 01-23-2013 Yes, sewer. Very important to bring in growth we need. And how to go about it? Will it ever be done? Peace and long life RE: CDPs thrownout - Seeb - 01-23-2013 sewer systems are very expensive just for pahoa village it would be tens of millions of dollars. and with the narrow right-a-way if would have to go right down the road RE: CDPs thrownout - Seeb - 01-23-2013 Since infrastructure was so completely neglected in the past, and to build it now is going to be financial crushing unless its a fed grant or something. which is not likely something most be done to lower the build-out number. it would be a good use for that 2% money RE: CDPs thrownout - daijoubu - 01-24-2013 quote: Need growth? Its pretty clear that growth is the root cause of most of the problems we face - traffic, congestion, long lines, pollution, crime, stress, the list goes on and on. We need to come up with a good plan to slow or stop the rampant growth in Puna, to preserve the quality of life that remains for all. RE: CDPs thrownout - punaticbychoice - 01-24-2013 Tough and complicated issues daijoubou. RE: CDPs thrownout - kalakoa - 01-25-2013 I just wish the anti-growth rhetoric was part of real estate disclosure; too much growth can be "bad", but zero growth means no economy (which is what we basically have here). RE: CDPs thrownout - daijoubu - 01-25-2013 quote: Is growth really needed for a healthy economy? If you keep things working efficiently "as-is" doesn't that meet our needs? I lived on Molokai for a while, and that island hasn't grown or changed much at all. But the people there live and work pretty happy together, well at least no worse than anywhere else. And the people there do not want growth, and fight hard to keep it the way it is. It shows that you can keep things the way they are and still have a good life. |
