RE: Gluten-free in Hilo and Puna - Carey - 03-11-2013 Just a real quick "heads up" - the Domiinos FAQ site does not recommend their 'gluten-free' crust for celiac disease, as it is prepared in a common kitchen...something that may be a problem with most bakeries..(had not thought of that...also many soy products are cross-contaminated with gluten grains, due to processing equipment...so if the gluten exclusion is for a disease, be much more careful, but if it is just for a dietary reduction, then enjoy! FAQ link: https://order.dominos.com/en/pages/content/customer-service/glutenfreecrust.jsp RE: Gluten-free in Hilo and Puna - Erlinda - 03-12-2013 I had good luck last year at Naung Mai Thai Kitchen, 86 Kilauea Avenue Hilo. The owner was very helpful with helping me select gf menu items and made sure the cook was diligent to avoid cross-contamination. Two Ladies Kitchen, 274 Kilauea Ave Hilo makes great mochi, some of which is gf. You have to ask. May be some cross-contamination issues with the yummy looking "home made" desserts at Island Naturals, even tho they appear gf. The manager warned me about that last year. When we visit we always rent a place with a kitchen so I can prepare my own food, unfortunately. Wish there were places with gf menus besides Outback (on Kona side). RE: Gluten-free in Hilo and Puna - hawaiideborah - 03-12-2013 Thanks for all the suggestions. Yes, I love the gf baked goodies from Buddha Belly. I get them at Island Natch.. Does anyone know if Buddha Belly is a bakery selling to the public? The label says made in Pahoa. Great suggestion about Two Ladies Bakery and Naung Mai Thai. Have you eaten gf at the other Thai places? Thanks for the help.
