7- Good luck with the container, love the thought process online!

You may also want to have it placed so that it can stay - county does allow container accessory buildings, but they have to be on a foundation...which makes sense for long term & to keep the bottom from jungle rot!

Are you making a home out of shipping containers? Ive seen those around a lot and look SOOO cool ! Smile

No I would not be making this livable space, just figuring options if I need to secure tools and materials.

Thanks for the heads up Carey, don't want the floor rotting out. Wonder if concrete parking blocks would do the trick. And wonder if they can be had out there.

Concrete blocks (referred to as 'hollow tiles' mostly) can be had (HD & others)... hikatz posted this foundation info some years back:
"Two websites has information on type of foundation needed. :

[this link doesn't seem to go the intended:]

{but searching BV site, come up with a lot of links on container homes, inc. this one that uses concrete block foundation:

Not positive about the code...seem to remember KCat did something with this a few years ago...

Go to HD or HPM and get foundation blocks. It's the "standard" for putting containers on around here.

We were given a container and had to move it about 600 ft from where it was to our lot. (Move made in Oct 2013 so pretty current pricing.)

We always call Benny Alonzo at Keaau Service. (So yes they had to come from Kurtistown to Kapoho).

Cost was just about $500 - they had to use boom truck to get moved from the 1st location and onto flatbed trailer. Drove crane into our yard and just took it off from flatbed and set in our yard. Took him about an hr or so. (He charges from time he leaves Keaau to time he gets back and two hours minimum total I believe). This also included moving the giver's other container about 10 ft over in his yard.

My husband says Benny can move anything anywhere and I called others to double check pricing it was about the same.

We have used Benny for more than 13 yrs so sticking with him.
