RE: Superferry, is it good or bad for Hawaii? - Greg - 09-18-2007 I first thought the superferry would benefit me by my traveling to Oahu to deliver product and get supplies. Them I found out how expensive it was going to be, and because of the schedule, two nights on Oahu were required. I'll keep shipping USPS. Then I thought maybe people visiting from Oahu would pump up our local economy by spending their money here. It was pointed out that these folks would more likely gas up, and buy all their supplies at the Oahu Costco and pretty much leave us with just their opala. I don't see how the HSF benefits anyone other than the Oahu multitudes looking for other highways and parks to choke. RE: Superferry, is it good or bad for Hawaii? - Greg - 09-18-2007 Tyler, I suspect your comment is kind of "tongue in cheek", but the fact is that aside from restrooms, Puna offers much to the Oahu multitudes. One example is Opihi. They've totally depleted their island of it. Another example would be Maile, for the same reason. Tropical aquarium fish? Ala stone? Coconuts? Noni????????? RE: Superferry, is it good or bad for Hawaii? - oink - 09-18-2007 Mella |, If I remember correctly, back in the late 60s and early 70s there was a UFO base in the West Maui mountains. The base was never actually observed as the mountains are almost always shrouded in clouds. I know for a fact that the base was there back then, as I often saw the ships coming and going, after taking some of those funny little pills. Pua`a S. FL Big Islander to be. RE: Superferry, is it good or bad for Hawaii? - HADave - 09-18-2007 sounds like one to many orange sunshines but then again UFO's have been very busy in Cali abducting the sexy and goodlooking populas so I've been told.... perhaps they are traveling east....hehehe RE: Superferry, is it good or bad for Hawaii? - dakine - 09-19-2007 what the hell is harry doing testifying in maui about the superferry?!? http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070919/NEWS01/709190408/1001/NEWS01 I love the guy.. but this makes me wonder how close to that good ol swan song he's getting. didnt our council vote otherwise? as a representative of our island is he not responsible to represent us? or is he just a pre-senile old man that is abusing his power and position to do whatever he wants? I can not believe he could be allowed to use his title and go off to some other island as a witness for a developer. am I missing something here? RE: Superferry, is it good or bad for Hawaii? - loffelkopffl - 09-19-2007 this whole fiasco wouldn't have happened if our gov had just followed the law to begin with(her sidekick was a judge for crying out loud, and he wants to be gov?)like nobody thought they would get challenged in court? come on, the gov and the backers just ignored it and now they are paying the consequences for their screw up. RE: Superferry, is it good or bad for Hawaii? - macuu222 - 09-22-2007 Looks like the Superferry now has cancelled both Kauai And Maui trips "indefinately". They were going to start the Kauai roundtrip on Tuesday the 25th after a Kauai judge ruled that Superferry was in compliance with environmental laws, rules and regulations. But after a shakey meeting with the people of Kauai....the Governor and Superferry officals last Thursday....they seem to be having second thoughts. Or maybe it's just a cool down period. In any event...I'm wondering just how long the superferry can afford to sit in Honolulu harbor collecting dust? RE: Superferry, is it good or bad for Hawaii? - Daniel - 09-22-2007 Forget Maui and kauai, Bring it to the big island. We'll take em in. Daniel R Diamond |
