Cost U Less has the best around .
Also have the best organic non dairy drinks as far as price goes.
We also like their prices on Kau dark roast coffee.By far the best we have had on island, locally grown.
Bigger portions,smaller prices.
Coconut oil 2 varieties at Cost U less.

Check this article out on refined vs. unrefined. I think I would prefer paying the extra $$ and buy local from a business who makes the backyard unrefined oil.

Thanks for all the feedback. I have considered making my own, but while I am getting set up and still running around and doing errands (dmv, post office etc) and do not have a collection of coconuts (yet) I just need to buy some.

Quality is a big factor, but so is price.

I think I will check out costless, as I am having some issues getting a general delivery or PO box set up yet. Thank you !

I bought mine from Amazon as well, till I saw Costco selling to jars of it... Bought two of them. Dunno if they still carry it but was about 1/3 the price of amazon.

Carrington Farms brand... good stuff

We have been buying for years from a lady on craigslist, who lives on the Big Island. Organic virgin coconut oil cold pressed that comes from Samoa. My family and I feel it's the best out there. Go check it out on craigslist at least it comes from Polynesia and is processed preserving the full nutritive value.

Though I have never been a diehard Costco shopper, when we return to the BI next week, I plan on going with my parents on their bi-weekly Kona Costco runs. One of the reasons is 54 oz tubs of coconut oil..we have a baby on the way and plan to use it as "bum cream" in addition to cooking/health/beauty stuff. There's also some decent "clean" & local products at Costco (including island beef, if you eat meat)...plus they have a decent business model that invests in treating their workers well. If you are having a beach day on the other side, you should really consider hitting them up with a cooler in the back of your rig. Stock up, & gas is also cheapest here.

Anyway, back to the oil: Costco's coconut oil is from Carrington Farms...comes in big plastic tubs but BPA free...oil is unrefined/unheated, and comes from a cert'd organic farm collective in the Phillipines. It's also third-party tested. Pretty good stuff! I think the cost here in Washington is about $16 for the 54 oz. tub.
