My foodie friend came back with very good things to say about MW. Her musts are local sourcing and freshness, chef innovation.
Here's the menu.

The mochi covered opakapaka seems to be very popular.

It's behind Ala Moana on Kapiolani, so a bit over a mile from HHV.
Enjoy your trip! Sounds fun.

Aloha Carol: When we last stayed in Waikiki (at the Ewa Hotel on Carlsmith) we walked aways along the park to the New Otani Hotel. There's a restaurant on the beach there called Hau Tree Lanai http://www.kaimana.com/dining.htm
that we enjoyed a sunset dinner (under a Hau tree, in fact) watching the beach crowd, the sailing vessels passing, and not least the tables filling with watchable parties.
Food very well prepared and presented. Not cheap but considering the entertainment both visual and audio, worth the outlay.
Just for your consideration if you want a special dinner....
