Well written Opihikao, with plenty of truths about pohoiki over the last 25 + years. I am still curious to why a resort has not happened yet in pohoiki? Then a few life gaurds, security guards, and a police substation might be warranted. The brawl does not surprise me, hopefully no one was seriously hurt. The current emergency response time to such a highly visited or frequented area (pohoiki) probably is not going to be acceptable much longer? The actual Surfers are usually the good or trust worthy bunch in pohoiki. I do think The amount of hard drugs, marijuana, alcohol, and filthy living taking place in and around pohoiki currently is troubling at times now. Jmo.
P.S. have they fixed the storm damaged part of red road in pohoiki, or do they even have plans to at all? And why has the road to the wall where keiki could swim not been reopened since the storm? The road was first right, after pohoiki, heading towards hot pond, just before the gated road on left. The gated road area would be a great resort area in between hot pond and pohoiki with kapoho only a bike ride away for most visitors, jmo.
