why on earth would they make a public statue with loose parts that can be stolen or abused--especially something like a spear? You could put your eye out with that. Or somebody else's eye.

Lee brings up a valid point. If the top section is not recovered, I'm thinking this could turn out to be as good an opportunity as any to replace the King's spear with some alternative...
