I didn't know there were direct flights from KOA to MKK. That sounds like your best bet. Another option is to fly from Waimea to Maui and from OGG to MKK on Mokulele.

One thing I remember from my trip there was that the rental car price was crazy high. There is a cabin rental or two available that comes with a free vehicle to use that is such a good deal it practically makes the lodging "free".

Molokai is one of the most incredible and most beautiful places I have ever visited. How it has avoided the scourge of mainstream tourism is beyond me and the locals are so friendly Aloha literally oozes from everywhere. If you don't show up with a smile you will get infected with one very quickly.

Just checked it out, and unfortunately the $49 fare looks like it is just on certain days, mainly Monday through Wednesday.
