"I will not stop inside the roundabout to let other drivers enter".

It will be interesting to see if police start writing special roundabout tickets when accidents occur. Generally, a driver who crashes into the car in front of him/her is assigned blame, as it's his/her responsibility to keep a safe distance and stop safely. But if the driver in front in a roundabout stops to let someone in, that driver is making an unexpected (if not illegal) maneuver which probably is the real cause of the accident.

Blame will be placed on who did not yield according to where the yield signs are placed. If sign placed approaching the roundabout, entering driver has to yield to those already in the "loop". Sign placed within roundabout, drivers entering the "loop" have the right of way.
Either way, plenty of fist shaking with perhaps a finger extended, and plenty of hollering until it is all figured out, entertaining all who are innocent at the time watching on.

I think it's a one lane roundabout, so any accident that causes a crashed car to be inoperable, will mean plenty of "entertained" viewers, probably for a mile in all directions.

(PS Tink, my scenario was for both drivers already in the loop)

Understand HOTPE! In all quite amusing as I found when they put the one in Koloa town on Kauai in front of the firehouse down Poi'pu way. Had lawn chairs out watching the mainlanders (somehow most amusing) trying to figure it out in their rented convertibles and open jeeps. Could hear every mutter and curse of the driver and easy to tell where they were from by accent and driving habit. Locals learned quick to just go with the flow. (Now where have I heard that before?).

I've never seen a roundabout that made drivers inside the loop yield to the cars entering. (I'm originally from New Jersey so I've seen plenty of them!)

My point is that Hawaii drivers are so nice, they will almost certainly stop to let other cars in, defeating the purpose of the roundabout and probably causing accidents.

My comment was I guess a long way of saying the signage will dictate who is at fault by police report. What I learned was slow down to match speed, weave in, weave out, through the roundabout, carry on.

Exactly!

what? Roundabout with a YIELD sign? Never seen one with a Yield sign. You aren't suppose to stop, just slow down and hurry up and get in there even if the other driver in "Hawaii" will think your cutting in and get all upset about it! It will be fun!

Maybe the signs can read like my favorite bumpber sticker ...

" HORN BROKE, WATCH FOR FINGER. "
