Leaving a loaded pistol around for children to get their hands on should earn you some jail time imho.

This is heartbreaking on so many levels. Someone so young, and no one rode to the hospital with him? I guess they were too busy lying about the source of the wound and trying to cover up the criminally negligent storage of a firearm. Such stupid losers and the kid paid the price.

Would have to look it up but this tragedy could get worse as in some states when a minor commits suicide with parents gun they could get several years of prison. And that would be why nobody wanted to attend in the hospital plus 'lost' the gun, it's probably unregistered too boot.

Negligent no doubt, but when parents lose their children it's horrible and insult to injury whenever they're imprisoned for it too. Now the gun is 'missing' no doubt they'll get the book thrown at them. Their worst fears of negligence is likely to be realized.

This sounds like a terrible and tragic accident. My sympathies to the family. I will not comment on the circumstances - it's not really the right time for it.
