RE: 2018 HPP District Elections - oink - 03-10-2018 Sorry if I caused a fracas. I was just reporting what I experienced. I can't guarantee it came from the link but timing sure gave that indication. The link did open. I ran 2 virus scans right after I posted and nothing was found. I use Chrome for a browser if that makes any difference. It appears my lots are in district 5. I thought I remembered being in #2 previously?? Did the zones get rearranged or just my brain? Pua`a S. FL Big Islander to be. RE: 2018 HPP District Elections - mermaid53 - 03-10-2018 Aloha Oink, no the districts haven't changed. RE: 2018 HPP District Elections - EightFingers - 03-10-2018 When I clicked the link, I got a dialogue box that asked if I lived in or own property in Hawaiian Paradise Park. When clicked “yes”, I got this bold warning telling me to “move immediately”.* Should I be concerned? Just kidding.... RE: 2018 HPP District Elections - DTisme - 03-10-2018 I'm not even sure why HPP HAS districts. (yeah, I know, it's in the bylaws) Everywhere I've ever lived -- towns up to 130,000 pop - had city council members that were city-wide representatives. This is one reason it's hard to get new district reps. RE: 2018 HPP District Elections - kalakoa - 03-11-2018 towns up to 130,000 pop - had city council members Perhaps HPP should incorporate. It's bigger than some towns. RE: 2018 HPP District Elections - leilanidude - 03-11-2018 Perhaps HPP should incorporate. It's bigger than some towns. ---------- You think the fees are high now? Incorporate and see how high the new taxes will be. RE: 2018 HPP District Elections - Chunkster - 03-11-2018 Several years ago incorporation was suggested as one way to deal with HPP's problems, but it was found that Hawaii law would require an enabling act from the state legislature for this to happen. I think Faye Hanohano even introduced a bill, but it got nowhere because Oahu legislators were afraid places like Kapolei and Kaneohe would also try to form municipalities of their own, upsetting the power structure there. And leilanidude makes a good point, i.e., "Watch out what you wish for." RE: 2018 HPP District Elections - My 2 cents - 03-11-2018 leilanidude makes a good point, i.e., "Watch out what you wish for." I think this could apply to HB2570 as well.. RE: 2018 HPP District Elections - Chunkster - 03-11-2018 Despite some serious misgivings, I still support HB2570, mainly because it offer an array of options to the property owners. Some of those are more attractive and viable than others of course. Incorporation is a non-starter due to Oahu opposition. RE: 2018 HPP District Elections - kalakoa - 03-11-2018 Incorporation is a non-starter due to Oahu opposition. "Local governance not allowed." support HB2570, mainly because it offer an array of options County decides and enforces with court order. Where's the "option"? |
