Ha,ha,ha,ha! Were I planning to dump it, I'd have been a little sneakier.
Why did I think a microwave was any different than other appliances? I was sure there was a hazardous radioactive "gonkulator" inside. (For all you trivia fans, Col. Hogan once convinced Sargent Scholtz that they had a working gonkulator in their barracks...To which he replied: "I know noooothing!!!")

]Naw, Microwave ovens are just common material parts with no harmful stuff. The radioactive thing came from the original "nuking" your food sound bites.
I made a quick call to my local private solid waste contact and he said microwave ovens are 100% recyclable. They can be disassembled into plastic, glass, and metal. Nothing special to dispose of.
