You would think that judges, court officials, and jailers would have enough sense to use the word "release" only in the context of properly letting someone out of custody. But no, this is Hawaii, and there will be no consequences for any of the public employees involved.

Yes. Indeed. Of all kinds.
Maybe we need a thread on "Great moments in State and County government".
Maybe "Politics" section
needs a little action and life.
My inner Mencken and Royko are busy right now, on another project.
Volunteers?
Come on, don't be shy!

Done.

I thought about using `great moments' but decided that would confuse people.

EW. Yes, I saw that the staff misread the "discharge to CourtXXX" after Monday's hearing as discharge him out the door. I can no longer find that article however. This one beautiful headline sums up the Hawaii (bureaucrat) experience so well and has been in evidence Over and over again since it was written. Time for change. Begin with sign wavers/ traffic distractions......

Apparently this was the sixth improper release in the past five years. HNN has updated the story, but the link is the same as above:

It isn't bad enough that the judges give slap on the wrist sentences, so they have to turn dangerous felons loose, too.
