I think this poster is saying they don't use bleach (at least they didn't say they did use it and were dismissive of chlorine use).

Me ka ha`aha`a,

I don't want to sound like a one note song because I've posted this already several times, but I don't want people to get injured by putting "bleach" into their drinking water:

"Key Difference: Chlorine is an element and has the atomic number 17. It belongs to the halogen group and is the second lightest halogen after fluorine. It is a strong oxidizing agent. Bleach is any chemical that is used in order to remove color, disinfect or whiten objects...The most common types of bleaches that are available in the market are sodium hypochlorite and calcium hypochlorite, both of which are made using chlorine."

Judging from the amount of times I’ve read posters saying they add bleach to their catchment, I think you haven’t said it enough.

UH still recommends "Chlorine or Bleach" in their water catchment pamphlets. Even in reference to drinking water. Are they giving bad advice?

You piqued my interest so I looked it up. They do say that but with the disclaimer that there is differences of opinion about using it. Too long to paste here. If you want to read about it, go to pg 34.

Cats can smell impurities in water. If they're drinking it, then it's okay for them to drink.

No doubt they can smell chemical impurities at much lower levels than we can. I doubt they can smell rat lungworm cysts though. They may even regard the smell of dead slugs in the water as indicating it's "natural".

yep, i would opine its also a case of them simply purrfuring what they used to like drinking from puddles etc.

That said and i've mention this before . We drink from tap almost 10 years and prefer to any other..

After we got all that rain, color, clarity and taste never the same and wildly variable.
