I guess the term "twitcher" is not well known here? I did try and warn people. Wink

I had never heard the term "twitcher" before. I thought you were talking about the speed freaks getting paranoid about the aircraft. :-)

twitchers are also people who watch birds. Perhaps Tom could Elucidate.

Yes, it's why I posted "So much for all the twitchers who suddenly became excited!". I think it might be a UK term which is why it might not have registered with everyone. A "twitcher" is a very enthusiastic bird-watcher who will travel a long way to see rare birds. As Ospreys (the bird) are particularly rare in Hawaii, I thought it was an appropriate term!

PS. When I saw the original post I also thought it was about ospreys (the bird). Rotors can refer to winds near mountains as well. I had to check if ospreys ever come to Hawaii which I don't think they do, but then it clicked that rbrgs was referring to aircraft.

save our indigenous and endemic Hawaiian Plants... learn about them, grow them, and plant them on your property, ....instead of all that invasive non-native garbage I see in most yards... aloha

Back to the original topic....the USMC Osprey aircraft were providing assistance in the search of two fishermen who had been swept off the rocks in Ka'u. Both have yet to be found.

In Glenwood? At 2000'? Days before they disappeared?

Ospreys (the birds) don't come here AFAIK, but peregrine falcons sometimes do.
