RE: eruption 2020 - VancouverIslander - 12-21-2020 The USGS web site must be getting hammered by people like myself curious to see what's happening. It's the slowest I've ever seen right now. In any case, a return of lava to Halema'uma'u is a relief compared to some of the other alternatives like LERZ or Mauna Loa. Pele is brightening up the skies over her home in time for the Winter Solstice. RE: eruption 2020 - SBH - 12-21-2020 They’re saying the lake is still there. https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2020/12/21/hvo-eruption-reported-halemaumau-crater/ RE: eruption 2020 - alaskyn66 - 12-21-2020 USGS facebook page has lots of pictures and video. Fountains are spewing from above the lake, so that might make a difference on explosive events. https://facebook.com/USGSVolcanoes/ RE: eruption 2020 - dobanion - 12-21-2020 The USGS Volcanoes twitter feed is the best I have seen so far. The usual webcams feeds are completely overburdened. https://twitter.com/usgsvolcanoes?lang=en RE: eruption 2020 - birdmove - 12-21-2020 https://www.westhawaiitoday.com/2020/12/21/hawaii-news/civil-defense-eruption-at-kilauea-has-stabilized/ RE: eruption 2020 - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 12-24-2020 The trade winds are diminishing, this afternoon the plume from Kīlauea shifted to the north. Here’s a high resolution gif from GOES-17 earlier today. If there’s no wind tonight the vog might move in any direction: https://twitter.com/simoncarn/status/1341897963199754242?s=21 RE: eruption 2020 - sistersue - 12-24-2020 (12-24-2020, 04:22 AM)HereOnThePrimalEdge Wrote: The trade winds are diminishing, this afternoon the plume from Kīlauea shifted to the north. RE: eruption 2020 - SBH - 12-24-2020 I know that, the original story was updated to reflect that. |
